Welcome to BYC. There are great people here.

I have a nice Barred Rock roo I need to rehome in about a month. He's 9 weeks now and I need to keep him a while longer until I can integrate him and his booder-mate, an EE pullet, with my existing flock. He's a cute funny guy and lets me pick him up and pet him, though you never know how they will be when grown. I'm in West Michigan but if you are interested, I'd be willing to meet you half way to make sure he goes to a good home with hens to tend to and not end up in someone's crock pot. If you are still looking for a roo come September, keep me in mind.

great! i will definatly keep you in mind, we just need a nice roo who will protect our girls and take on the rooster roll because our girls are a bit well... dominant and some of them think they are roos (they obviously arent!) so they are in need of a bit of authority. the rooster would definatly not end up on our dinner table, even though our girls could be meat hens too we have no intrest in eating any of our pets! my mom loves BRs and we think its best to get a roo to spare our girls the confusion of wich sex they should act, he would definatly have a good home.

also thank you to everyone who has welcomed me here, i love this website it has been so helpful!!

I am up to my ears in araucana roos. I chose two keepers, but the rest? Probably freezer camp. I am keeping only the best two tufted and rumpless individuals with the best conformation. The rest are either tailed, cleanfaced, wrong leg color, etc. that makes them culls. A shame, since some are definitely pretty.

So I haven't driven the truck for a few days, since I went for groceries.
Opened the door to an sweet aroma...
I missed a cantaloupe that had rolled out of the bag and was on the backseat floor.

So the chickies got a treat of "baked" cantaloupe this afternoon.

I'm not very popular in my home today. I made the announcement (more like finally took a stand) that we must get rid of some birds. I don't want to but we just can't afford all of them right now. I put a lot of energy and love into these birds and because of that, I took several hours thinking hard on who we should keep. I felt like I was making a life or death decision because I love them all!!

So, I probably know the answer to this because it's the wrong time of year or no one wants more drakes or roos, but I thought I would post this here before I go for craigslist.

1 BLRW roo (GORGEOUS!)
2 RIR roos
1 hen and 3 drake swedish mixed
1 older BR hen that still lays 2-3x a week but the roos have liked her a LOT so she's missing most of the feathers on her back
3 eight-ish-week old ducklings, two cayuga mixed and the other a runner.
1 three week old cayuga mixed duckling that is half blind
7 bantam cochin/frizzle hens (from frizzledhen)

Almost all of these birds made excellent breeding stock for me for a year. I'm more concerned with them finding good homes and this is the best place to check first!

I'm asking $5 each, or if you want more than one I will make you a very good deal!!

There's nothing wrong with any of them (except molting lol), we just have WAY too many roos (7) and drakes (6) and the rest are ones that made the cut because I didn't have a choice

With that said, I can provide pics of any of these and if you're interested you can pm me or call 517-663-8035. For those that don't know, my name is pronounced Kate and I'm 20 miles south of Lansing.
