Welcome to BYC. There are great people here.
I have a nice Barred Rock roo I need to rehome in about a month. He's 9 weeks now and I need to keep him a while longer until I can integrate him and his booder-mate, an EE pullet, with my existing flock. He's a cute funny guy and lets me pick him up and pet him, though you never know how they will be when grown. I'm in West Michigan but if you are interested, I'd be willing to meet you half way to make sure he goes to a good home with hens to tend to and not end up in someone's crock pot. If you are still looking for a roo come September, keep me in mind.
great! i will definatly keep you in mind, we just need a nice roo who will protect our girls and take on the rooster roll because our girls are a bit well... dominant and some of them think they are roos (they obviously arent!) so they are in need of a bit of authority. the rooster would definatly not end up on our dinner table, even though our girls could be meat hens too we have no intrest in eating any of our pets! my mom loves BRs and we think its best to get a roo to spare our girls the confusion of wich sex they should act, he would definatly have a good home.
also thank you to everyone who has welcomed me here, i love this website it has been so helpful!!
