A co-incidence perhaps? My step-son wrestled with a kid named Pringle. As long as there was a wrestling season, my SS did fine. After graduation, the Pringle kid went to college and my SS went to jail. I'm sure that there is no connection.

I will never learn that I cannot drink coffee after dinner and expect to be able to sleep. I have been enjoying the light show from the storm rumbling through here tonight. Where we live there is a race track and $$$ resorts and you never know what we will hear or see. After dinner we were out wrangling critters and there was an airplane putting on a show twisting and turning and doing loops. Free entertainmnet. I have yet to make it to any kind of swap.

So the plan was to clean the coop this morning but now it's storming. I guess the girls will have to wait to be let out and get their coop cleaned. :: sigh and goes back to bed ::
Looks like today is off to a decent start. My summer cold is just about gone and Hope's has started to abate. Hopefully Granny is going to be able to avoid it. I certainly wouldn't want her to go through what we have.
Keyt, an excessive rooster population can affect the overall condition of your entire flock. The stress to the flock can reduce egg production. If the wounds on the hens become too bad they could become infected and you could lose the bird. Since they are larger than hens they eat more with no return there by increasing your costs. If you have tried rehoming them with no success it seems that you have only one option open to you. Do what Harlan would have done, FRY EM. If you are unable to do the deed yourself you could list them on Craig's list. Good luck.
My granddaughter turned 13 today and trying to figure out what to do for her birthday can really be a difficult endeavor. She is a wonderful kid rapidly growing into a very fine young woman. She does extremely well in school and sports. She is involved in 4H, helps her parents take care of all their animals. Both of her parents make very good money, but when she decides she wants something she saves her money and buys it herself. She has 5 sets of aunts and uncles who either have no children or have grown children, so everyone remembers her on her birthday. How do you get something for a kid that pretty much has everything? For a few years I took the easy way out and sent a card with money but that just didn't feel personal enough. So last year I sent her flowers and she was absolutely thrilled. Last fall someone on BYC mentioned a website that carried numerous and unusual socks. Out of curiosity I checked it out and found socks with toes. So this year I had them sent her knee high red and white striped sock with toes and rubber traction strips on the bottoms. She loved them. Now I have a year to figure out what to do for her next birthday.

Opa...your grand daughter sounds like the type of teen who will love WHATEVER you give her...little or big,....because it was from grandpa!
Our company just left (week visit) and is headed back to a very hot Florida. My plan is to get camera and sit a spell with the flocks to see what kind of pictures I can get. HOWEVER...it is raining (which we badly need) so will have to wait a spell.

Morgan is a very sentimental child and cherishes things that have a history or upon which a history will be built. One of her most treasured possessions is a swing cradle that I built for her birth. Another is a bas relief carving I did of a yellow lab that she thinks look exactly like her dog. I know that building things would probably be the thing to do but after a while even that becomes difficult to come up with something.
Opa- I am glad to see you up and around. Your granddaughter is lucky to be able to know you- mine were gone by the time I was her age.
