Sounds like sour crop. You can drain her by tipping her straight upside down. It works best with two people so one can hold the head down while the other tips the body. You don't want her to inhale the fluid that's coming out. After that put her in isolation with a nice big bowl of grit and get some garlic mash down her. I'd keep garlic mash in with her free-choice for 24-48 hours (if she doesn't eat it willingly feed it to her periodically) along with the grit. After that you can offer feed.

Hi Everyone!!!
I have a broody BR that hatched just 1 chick today!! There are 3 other eggs that I don't think will hatch and I am going to wait a few days to see if they will or not. The one baby is just cherping away like nuts. If the others don't hatch should I find some day olds to put in with the baby?? The Momma was pecking at it something fierce, so I took it to the brooder. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY DAY OLDS OR YOUNG ONES??? HELP!!

Just mash up fresh garlic cloves and mix with a bit of olive oil to make a slippery mash.

I wouldn't say the lack of smell is really indicative one way or another. Some of the things that can cause sour crop are very odiferous, others are not. It may simply be stopped up and starting to get "sour" and you caught it early so no real odor has accumulated yet. Either way I would treat the same way. Lots of grit, lots of garlic, lots of rest.

This thing just fell out of our maple tree. It's alive and whatever is inside moves when you touch it. It's about the size of a small kiwi. I put the keys in the pic for perspective.

What the heck is it? Anyone know? Raz?

I found another old dresser drawer, about 40" long, two wooden knobs, I atttached a couple legs to it and put two dividers in it so theres three compartments, mounted it to the wall in the coop for the eggstra hens. Yippee, more STUFF.

Another awesome pink and orange sunset out there tonight...sleep tight Michigan.

Thanks Olive Hill.

I was just talking to Carl, the neighbor, and he was cremating to chicks about the same age as mine. He said he didn't know what killed them, but that they died. Earlene, his wife, she was the one who found them. Now, I am wondering if there is something going around with the baby chicks... There's are about the same age as mine. Only thing, they do not come in contact with each other... theirs free range also, but they stay over there, and mine stay over here...

I wouldn't keep the cocoon in the house... IT might be an alien and when it come out, it might attach to your face and plant another alien in your chest! Oh, wait... Thats a movie...
