I've seen those at the antique stores I go to. I love antiques! My kitchen is full of antique kitchen untensils, pans, etc on the walls. It's decorated in old farm house style.

Nova....I would love to have another Roo but can't since I need more hens per each Roo. I would be afraid of them fighting and I think my girls would be miserable. I do have to say though.....I love to hear those boys crow too!! What about the Fowl Fest in Oct @ the Birch Run expo?? You might find homes for them there.

I cant go. I might send them up to Ravenna with Carl and Earlene, they are taking some up there I think this weekend. I'd love to go to Fowl Fest, but, I have to work and nope, cant get no on to cover for me...

My chickens have recently discovered the garden boxes. They especially love the red cabbage. By the way red cabbage = bright blue poo. I have a ton of tomatoes still on the vine that are just starting to turn. Jalapenos, yellow peppers, and green peppers are still going strong. Anyone planting garlic this fall?

I don't have a run at all. My birds free range, and to be honest, I prefer to let them do that in the winter too, except I don't feel like shovelling their run around area, or snow blowing back there, AND I do not want them to come into contact with the wild turkeys, so IT has to be something I can easy-up easy-down. Or not take more than an hour or so. I used to have a hoop greenhouse garage, but when I moved to my new house i bought, my old landlord got impatient and had some guys come help me move my stuff faster (even tho i have that whole month of rent paid) and it, along with some saws dissapeared. He said he didn't know what happened to it, and honestly anyone could have taken them... But, It would have been perfect... Bummer.

As for them free ranging together, the new roos and the old flock, Mr. Fluffers is already trying to attack them thru the plastic fencing. Its actually kind of funny because even tho Mr. Fluffers is about 7 pounds, closer to 6.5, and Roger(silkie) is only about 4, which is quite big for a silkie, They actually stand about the same height and to see them both puff up and jump up against the fencing feet first... Almost makes me wanna wet myself. So, Mr Fluffers and Roger have a crow off. Mr FLuffers will belt out his big beauty of a crow, and then Roger will belt out his, not as peircing and sounding like he's got teenage boy problems...SO funny. I love it. My mom on the other hand... She says they need to have silencers. LOL.

Oh, and Mr. Fluffers barks... Well it sounds like a low bark... Has anyone else heard their roo do this? He usually only does it when I am feeding treats and he's warning the other roos in the flock to get back...

There is nothing left to my garden boxes... Now they are picking thru my potted veggie left overs...

My in-laws have a dairy farm, and nothing really gets thrown away. I am constantly combing through the old garage, the tool shed and the basement for things. I have brought home so much stuff and redone them or repainted to make them look nicer.

I never planted it before and was thinking of doing so. I was @ a friends house this summer who had a small gathering and served some fabulous finger food. She had some roasted garlic that you spread onto bruschetta and the taste was out of this world. It was very simple to do and added some pizzazz.
When is the time to plant it?
