Brr, I am not liking this chill in the air. At least I got my wood burner yesterday. Now only have to get it in the house, then next week I can install it. Maybe sooner if I get other chores and homework done.

Since she started on the 13th., Broil has given me an egg every day.
At 8:30, I picked up the egg and it was still warm. I guess that is a good lesson, Get your work done early and have the rest of the day to play.

great price on the sunflower seeds. I grow my own and have been tossing the crew a head of cabbage and sunflowers for treats. (Their poo is exceptionally green right now even though they free range).

We also have sunflowers, only a few patches that actually come up every year on their own. Never thought about clipping them and hanging in the coop during the cold months....just might have to try this!

I must have planted 50 sunflowers this year for the first time in my life (my sister always did it) but only 3 came up. That's when I decided yup, no more planting for me!! I've said for years I have a black thumb!

Beatiful day. Sun shinning. Was a good morning to go goose hunting!

One of Krisrose's geese got out last night and she couldn't find her anywhere. So, at first sign of light, I went out there to help her look. Well, she was still getting dressed. Heard a loud honk from the soybean field, so went looking. There she was, hiding out. So, just had to walk her back home. She was so happy to be home, and Krisrose can sleep peacefully tonight! Got my chores done early.
Was in Lansing all day yesterday, and it was such a beautiful day. It was my first time without grand kids.

They're all in school now. My daughter and I were so looking forward to be able to go shopping and out to lunch without having a bunch of kids with us all the time, but you know what?? We missed them!!

They provided us with so many laughs and priceless memories. Looking forward to school days off so we can have them for the day again.

Ain't life funny? I started watching them for a day 8 years ago. Started with one, and then another, and then another, and then another...

Just got done fighting with my silkie. She is out there cussing me OUT! Sheesh she's loud. She's been sitting on her egg all day

One broody is enough for me right now, thank you. To save myself from attack I had to tilt the nest box and roll her out. Vicious little thing.

She is NOT happy with me right now.

Hi Michiganders!

DH and I just got home from our "OUT WEST' trip...we were gone for over two weeks and had a great time! Colorado, Wyoming, Montana....very beautiful but always good to be home. Hope I didn't miss too much on this thread....I don't think I will have time to go back and search. My chickens did very well while we were gone and my young ones should begin laying within a month. OH BOY!!!

I miss it out there. My mom's side of the family all live in CO or WA and we had family reunions at Canon Beach OR (where they filmed Goonies while we were there!). Because of my health problems, it was believed I could die if I went in an airplane, so we always drove. Montana is fabulous too!! Glad you had a great time!

LOL...I just checked on them and she is back in the nest box. This little mean bugger has stolen all of the golf balls.

I will know for sure is she is broody or not tonight when it's time for bed but I am thinking I have another one on my hands. Oye.

Yep....just got back from closing them in. She's broody and get this, her silkie buddy couldn't stand not sleeping next to her so she stuffed herself in the nestbox with her.
