I didn't think about weighing them. I just tore the kitchen apart looking for my scale.

Found it!
The three smaller ones are each 1.6 ounces.
The big one is 2.5 ounces.

I can hardly wait until breakfast...

I haven't had an egg in 5 days! Can I have yours?

Well, Its official... Scooter never came home today, so something got her. I looked all over, walked in the wooded area they hang out, and nothing. Since she was only goingn on 3 months, I do not hold out hope... Bummer. The mutts are just the cutest, and now I only have 3...

The possums have started to come out of the trees too, so I think its time to block the coop hole at the top of the ramp in side the coop under-run. Dont trust them little suckers. Have not seem a possum since spring... But they are back! Yeah... This is so sad, but last winter we, well I used to feed a possum that would come up on the deck to steal the bread I'd throw out for the squirrels. I fed the little guy dog food and he stayed away from the neighbors coops. Now I have chickens and I hope he doesn't remember the easy dog food pickings. LOL. I am real weird, but I actually like the little rodents... BUT, I don't think I will be liking them to much now that I HAVE CHICKENS.

I believe you are only person I know that actually put feed out for a possum! LOL You are a kind hearted soul for sure but for your sake I hope that possum doesn't come back with a family!
Do you have handy neighbor that can help you out the revamping of your coop? Maybe a girlfriend's boyfriend or hubby? Somebody to help always makes it seem easier.

P.S. Sorry to hear about your chick too!

March 18th. My son's girlfriend will be the same age when she has my grandbaby that I was when I had my son!!

Good Morning all
It's amazing the difference you can have in your flocks eggs. Most of my birds lay Large to Extra Large with the exception of my bantam birds which gives me Small and Peewee.

EGG SIZES
Jumbo- Greater than 2.5 oz. or 71 g
Extra-Large (XL)- Greater than 2.25 oz. or 64 g
Large (L)- Greater than 2 oz. or 57 g
Medium (M)- Greater than 1.75 oz. or 50 g
Small (S)- Greater than 1.5 oz. or 43 g
Peewee- Greater than 1.25 oz. or 35 g

I often wonder how it is possible for some of the eggs to be laid. The first time I got an egg that was 4 ounces I fully expected to find a dead hen in the coop. The surprizing thing is that often the smaller birds have been responsible for the abnormally large eggs. This year I have gotten 3 eggs that exceeded 4 oz.

Keyt - Sincere Congratulations!
Opa - AMAZING!

BYC friends - I am sorry to say that bringing home a couple of day old Isa Reds from Townline Hatchery has caused me to have anxiety attack after anxiety attack for the last 18 hours.
It started on the way home in the car with them.
My husband died of a brain tumor 3 years ago and it was when he got sick that I started having anxiety attacks.
I was shocked that bringing home chicks would trigger such a reaction for me.
I think my body is trying to tell me that I have become too sensitive to the chickens.
I am raising two teens and for some reason the ups and downs of the chickens has a great an effect on me.
Would anyone like the two day old Isa Browns?
I also have a pet - a bantam d'uccle who is really smart and really nice. She needs a quiet home with no dogs and just a few quiet chickens for company. She is really passive and has been on the bottom of all our birds for the last 3 years. But she remembers everything and she bonds and even obeys me when I show her what I want her to do - for example, stay off a certain area.
It has to be a really comfy situation for me to feel o.k. giving her away.
Please let me know if these birds would fit in your family. I really need to know the birds will get good care so I can take a break and rest my nervous system. Thanks, Nancy
