I think it was ME that let that ball drop - I'm so sorry! I had a meeting, then as I got back to my desk, a reminder popped up...but it was already an hour past. ACK! We'll for SURE catch up for lunch soon...don't let me forget again!

I should be at the show most of Saturday...at least through the judging (I have a couple of birds entered). Then, maybe shopping at the outlet mall across the street!

Lots of excitement here last night, got a call from a neighbor at 2 am that our horses were out

. They have been on pasture about a mile from the house, and one of the neighbors there told me they thought there was a bear in the neighborhood. Well, they went charging through the fence and up to US 2 (why do they always run in the wrong direction?). I leaped out of bed, WIDE awake, put on the sweatshirt, socks and jeans that were on the floor, and tore out the door armed with a bucket of grain and a handful of halters and lead ropes. Between me, my friend who keeps her horses at my place, and 3 police cars, we managed to catch them within an hour without anyone getting hurt. Whew! The two state troopers there also have horses, and were full of horses-running-loose stories.

When we caught them my pony tried to take off again as I was putting on his halter, and he managed to get about 30 feet with me draped around his neck before I got him stopped - I could hear the troopers laughing the whole time, it was pretty funny. He is a peppery little thing, but has a heart of gold. Then it was a 1 1/2 mile walk home for Denise, me and the 3 horses, escorted by Denise's husband and the state troopers. Good thing it was 3 am and the neighbors were all asleep. So now they are safe at my house behind regular fencing, and hopefully will stay put for a while.

Whew!

Glad you got your horses back in without any injuries. Ours got out once in the middle of the night. We wouldn't have known it but the dogs went crazy. I thought there was probably a coon or a fox or something out there, so sleepily stumbled to the door and let them out. I turned to head back to bed and heard a squeal, turned and the dogs were back at the door, tails tucked wanting in. The mare I had at the time had chased them right back when they tore out there and they didn't know what to think of THAT.

Luckily, ours stayed right in the yard. I just stepped outside and called her and she came walking over like "What? I'm having a midnight snack on the lawn."

And then the others followed.

Hey there fellow Michigangers! My husband and I moved to Comstock Park, just north of Grand Rapids within the last year from the east side of the state. A while back you folks provided some helpful info on vets in the area so I figured I would ask if anyone around here knew a good handy man or woman. When we lived in Freeland, MI we knew this great guy who would give us advise and help us out with everything from simple plumbing to electric fencing. He grew up on a farm, and knows how to do most anything.

Well, we are trying to set things up for our water fowl at the new home and it seems to be taking forever. If any one has advise about FROST-FREE HYDRANTS please check my other post

Welcome to the neighborhood! I am right near the Plainfield Lowe's store! Hope to meet you one day!

WHAT A CRAP BUTT DAY!

I think my car is... Well I think I may be paying on a car that I will not be able to drive till I can afford a new engine... But I guess we will see. I was out doing papers, my oil light comes on. I get out, check the oil, its good. Great, must be oil pump... SO, I am thinking, I can get it to the shop which is about 5 miles away from where I am at, does it make it? No, Its starts making a weird noise, then jerks and shuts off. It wasn't even 10 minutes! SO, looks like I may have to put a whole new engine now. Its a 2006 VW Rabbit. High preformance... TOOOOOO much money... So here I sit, no car... YEAH! SO, I have 600 bucks in savings right now, does anyone have a reliable car they wanna sell? All I need is 4 doors headlights brakes... Oh and running would help. LOL.

Man, I am so gonna lose my job. I can't believe this. No indication that anything was wrong. I do all my oil changes on time... The dang thing runs, well ran smooth. SO nice to drive. Now all I can do is sit in my driveway and listen to the radio and pretend I am on a trip... Going on a trip in my little rocket ship...

you're kidding me? Freeland IS my home town!! I lived there 26 years before going out west for 10 and then came back to Michigan. I bet we know ALOT of people in common. Did you know any Seavers, Mungers, Glaziers????? Id rather talk on PM's, I feel safer there.
