After I first built my elevated coop I opened the door and leaned in one day and pressed my leg right up against a little bat that had squeezed up underneath the closed door. He, not unexpectedly, bit me. Poor little guy had to be submitted for rabies analysis. I put wooden strips and foam insulation strips around the door after that to prevent a reccurence.
I got some nice Partridge Rock chicks from Sandhill Preservation last spring. If you have not seen their catalog you should - they have more tomato varieties than I ever knew exhisted. They breed a lot of less common birds to preserve genetic varieties.
