Interesting egg from Broast today. Normal tan but had dark blue/purple specks within the shell. I don't think that BSLs are known for speckled eggs.
It's pretty cool, though.

Interesting how some eggs are speckled. I got a few from one of my ISAs that had lavender speckles all over them. Sure were pretty. Go figure.

Chickflick and Chickmate...German here too on moms side. Scheurer....came from Wurtenburg (may have spelled that wrong), Germany. The food sounds yummy. I'm married to a Polish man now...so his family always made (I know I will slaughter the spelling of this) Krishinkies. (that is how it's pronounced) Family traditions are great! We are going to a neighbors for Thanksgiving...our family is scattered over the U.S although I still have lots of kin in Portland and Ionia area.

Making maple pumpkin cheesecake with pecan glaze. House smells like baking.

Ladies; why am I still single?

You grope chickens?? lol!!!

That might be a little off putting to some women. Fortunately there isn't a National registry for poultry perverts so you still have a chance if you don't mention it again.

Who would have thought a gentle touch without ruffling feathers is off-putting.
I'll never understand hens.

Chickflick - I grew up in Frankenmuth and my grandparents were "dyed in the wool" German (with a last name like Trinklein, would you doubt it?) I never heard of the dishes you mention, but would love to get the recipe for the fried cake, if you would give it out. My Grandmother was one of the best bakers in town and people would beg to buy her pies and pasteries. I have carried on a few of her recipes like butterhorns and raspberry pie, and wish I had learned to make more.

I'll be happy to. If I don't do it soon, like after Thanksgiving, send me a reminder, ok? Frikadellen is a hamburger patty in brown gravy. So good. It's believed that's where the American Hamburger came from.... Hamburg, Germany. The fried cakes are easy to make, a simple dough and roll it out. The trick is to make the "torn pants" I just use a pizza cutter and make the strips and a slit in the middle of that and pull a corner thru to make the torn pants. Have to have them every holiday.
Sure is quiet on the forum today. Everyone busy getting ready for Thanksgiving??
Well, I hope all of you have a fantastic Thanksgiving. I hope it's filled with family and friends and love. May you eat until your bellies are full and laugh until your heart is full. God Bless!
