Good Morning, waiting for the sun to wake up and take it's place in the sky. Busy day for most folks I guess. Pick up my paycheck and then take the pick up to the fix it shop for front end alignment and two new front tires before attempting to drive to my mom's in Cadillac. I have a feeling they are going to find more wrong with that old truck than I care to fix. The DD and I willl then walk the two miles home and enjoy a day of being stuck without a truck. I pray they can "get er' done" in one day.

Now don't you all work too hard cleaning, cooking, and eating the next couple of days.

Chickflick - I grew up in Frankenmuth and my grandparents were "dyed in the wool" German (with a last name like Trinklein, would you doubt it?) I never heard of the dishes you mention, but would love to get the recipe for the fried cake, if you would give it out. My Grandmother was one of the best bakers in town and people would beg to buy her pies and pasteries. I have carried on a few of her recipes like butterhorns and raspberry pie, and wish I had learned to make more.

I'll be happy to. If I don't do it soon, like after Thanksgiving, send me a reminder, ok? Frikadellen is a hamburger patty in brown gravy. So good. It's believed that's where the American Hamburger came from.... Hamburg, Germany. The fried cakes are easy to make, a simple dough and roll it out. The trick is to make the "torn pants" I just use a pizza cutter and make the strips and a slit in the middle of that and pull a corner thru to make the torn pants. Have to have them every holiday.
Sure is quiet on the forum today. Everyone busy getting ready for Thanksgiving??
Well, I hope all of you have a fantastic Thanksgiving. I hope it's filled with family and friends and love. May you eat until your bellies are full and laugh until your heart is full. God Bless!

Chickflick..your German "torn pants" sounds exactly the same as the Polish 'krisheekies" Same process and they are soooo yummy.

Was that your plane that woke me up? I live under an approach and nsome days I swear they are coming through the roof.
Tell BF that groping and talking about isn't strange; it's the closet gropers that worry me.

Wow, Farmerboy, you certainly have earned your name now!! How cool to see a live birth. I actually got to see it happen when my daughter and I were walking through the livestock barns at the Saginaw Fair a million years ago. We saw a crowd gathering at one stall and got there just in time to see the calf pop out.

Thank God you were there to help her or who knows how long she would have struggled until the owner came back. You rock!
