I love to cook, got a pot of homemade cream of mushroom soup going right now.

I think if someone called me and asked if they could bring a recently louse-infected, chemically treated chicken to come visit my elderly, possibly immune deficient parents, I would not hesitate to say no thanks

Mutts fan! It is mites! And I have had kids hold mite infested chickens and chicks and help me wipe them off with Adam's flea and tick spray. No kids were injured and the chicks were cute.
No big deal!

Grandma, I dont hesitate to hold infested animals myself. But we are talking about a senior center with potentially fragile elders. They are usually very strict about their standards for the health of visiting animals. Waiting a few weeks until she is sure her animals are mite-free is not a terrible thing.

Apparently you CAN get a virus responding to someone on FB, even if you don't click their links. I just spent the last hour or more removing one that i got while trying discourage a man on BYC FB who was trying to get people into a controversy by talking about a banned topic. Then i ruffled feathers by trying to contact a moderator on apparently the wrong spot, which made ME look like i was trying to start something..... so i got 2 things outta this: 1. don't be freely responding to FB'ers you don't know, and 2. you need to figure out how to contact a mod BEFORE you have a prob.
I figured i'd pass this along and spare you all the learning experience. I hope you all enjoyed my attempt at humor with my "story" and pics; myself i'm calling it a night while i still can!!!!!

Hey Jerry! I got family down in Sturgis and Burr Oak. The Krontz's. Well, my gran is a Kissell now.

Well, you know you're a chicken person when you go out of your way to shovel paths all over the yard, spread leaves all over... What have I been reduced too? I used to do that for my pitbull, Babi. Shovel and snow blow paths all over the yard for him. Miss that dog. NOW however, I am doing it for chickens! Ok, going to be doing it for my ankle biters this year too. I just hope we do not have a snow like last year, they'd get lost in it!

SO, 10 out of 14 chickens did go outside in the snow today. Several enjoyed the sheltered area and chose to hang out in the underrun. I think I am going to use my considerable skill at going by the seat of my pants and completely taking the one side of the underrun cloth off and making a new door there... I don't know. Maybe I will just block up the exit hole in the coop floor and open up the inside wall of the underrun completely to the sheltered area. BUT if I do that, they will be stuck in the coop for 15 hours. I don't like that idea. Especially since they come out to the under run as soon as the light comes on in the coop at 5:30 am! Decisions, decisions...

I think I am going to duct tape my kids to the ceiling now. I have been writing this post for over 20 minutes and its been MOM MOM MOM MOM...
