.
OK i lied. i had to get my BYC fix before i could properly settle down to sleep. No, i didn't have either, although the beam would've been nice, it's been that kind of week for me. bacon, potatoes fried in the bacon drippings, and a decent biscuit. Comfort food all the way!!! I wouldn't say my faith in mankind is bettering, but i feel better. You guys are hilarious and it was just what i needed!
Goodnight my chatty friends..
I had a rough day today. I took my daughter to school, then was stopped behind a semi-truck that was waiting to turn left. It was still dark, and snowing and a woman in a truck hit my van from behind. She smashed the back-end, the bumper and the hatch.
My face bounced off the steering wheel and the back of my neck and head hurt BAD. I called the police and after a few minutes the woman became almost hostile and tried to get me to call them back and say we were just going to settle it- not to send anyone. Finally, I called them and told them to hurry because she really didnt want them to come. She was saying she didnt do that to my hatch, just the bumper (duh)...
I went to the hospital, xrays, etc. Whiplash, told me I will hurt worse tomorrow. Tonight I feel like a train ran me over.
The gentleman is coming to get my roo tomorrow around noon. I am gonna miss him, and wish him well- but I really really hope my broodies finish thier job. I think I need to get some more straw. The area they are in is about ten degrees warmer than outside, but outside is COLD. I have an incubator but I hope those silkies are able to finish what they started. It was their idea, not mine- but now that they are almost due to hatch, I sure dont want them to stop.
I dont have the tiniest twinkle of Christmas spirit- not even a single decoration here (unless you count the christmas lights that I hung for light in the chicken yard). I miss my brother and nephew too much to consider Christmas this year- but I have tried for my kids sake. I think it will be neat to have little Snowman chickens (white silkies/showgirls) hatch for Christmas. lol.
Sleep well, my friends- I think Motrin is going to be my best hope for sleep.

I had the same thing happen to me last night. My best friend that I have grown up with since pre-k got in a car accident last night. She was flung from the car, the car flipped five times, and landed right on top of her. Her boyfriend had a couple broken ribs and some internal bleeding and she has a swollen colon and a few scratches and bruises, but thank goodness they both survived. I don't know if I could make it without her.
Goodness, Mom. What a way to start the day. Hope you get to feeling better soon.
It was slick this morning and there were the usual cars in the ditch and all on my way to work. I have to take back roads to work and having people flying around you when it is slick out is no fun. Today was my first run on snow with my mail truck and, boy, was it a very tense and stressful day. Those trucks are the equivalent of tuna cans on wheels so I was sliding quite a bit. Once I started to get the knack of it, it went better, but again so nerve-wracking.
Well, here's hoping for better traveling tomorrow. Have a good night everyone.
eta- Theron, that is something else. Hope your friend recovers soon.
Mom,
I am so very sorry about your accident/injury! I will be praying for you. I will especially be praying that you can enjoy the holiday. Remember, the holiday is not about our families; it is about God and how much He loves us- each of us. He loves you and He loves your brother and if you faithfully keep your brother in your prayers, one day he will come back to you.
Today, I got a call from a precious girlfriend. Her father is very ill and she is with him. Her brother is there also and she had not seen her brother in 2 years. They had a falling out. But they are together today and reconciled.
I don't know what your chicken set up is like, but I would put a heat lamp in the area where the broodies are.
God bless you and keep you and your chickens well!
Edit - Theron,
I will add your friends to my prayer list. I am so glad they are o.k. and that Mom2emall will be o.k. also. Wonderful to hear.
RaZ, are you trying to imply that I was fictionalizing your responsibility for "grumble" as the new "crumble"? Do you actually not remember? Because if I really had come up with something clever like that, I'd sure remember. (To be fair, you post a lot of funny comments, so I suppose you can't be expected to memorize them all...) Or maybe you're just being modest. Because if you went to all the trouble to look up my use of "grumble," you only had to go back a mere 92 more pages to see the original:

Looking for the reference? That would be page 2497, post 24964, Mr. Smarty Pants.
It's hard enough keeping up going forward with the 5 to 7 pages daily and now your're busting my chops about not going back 374?
This used to be a friendly thread and now you question my memory and call me names
.
I have been cut to the quick. To the quick I say!
I think I just might take my chickens and go home...Oh wait, I am already home. Doh! Maybe my memory is going...
BTW, this post was made with tongue firmly in cheek.
