Yikes, Mom2! How horrible for you. Take it as easy as you can in the next few days (or more!)--I know from personal experience that the day of a car accident is never the worst of it, as they told you at the hospital. And I don't understand people who can't acknowledge their own responsibility for mistakes. I mean, it was dark, it was slippery, any of us might have been the one behind you--but I like to think that most of us would apologize profusely and feel terrible about it. Well, I suppose they always tell you not to verbally admit fault (wait, that was from driver's ed many decades ago in another state that wasn't a no-fault state, no idea if they say that here...) but no matter what the legal advice, seems like you can safely do at least two things when you know in your heart you were at fault: ask repeatedly if the other person is okay, and not insist it wasn't your fault. Wouldn't make you hurt any less, Kim, but might not be yet another injury to your faith in your fellow humans.
Of course, I suspect the other driver had some ulterior motive regarding not wanting the police to come. Outstanding warrant/lack of insurance/illegal substances in her vehicle are the first things to come to mind. I guess that just goes to show how much faith I have in my fellow humans.
Present company excepted, of course!
Anyway, be very very good to yourself as you heal. I've never had whiplash, but I hear it is very painful and not a quick recovery.
Henry, Penelope, and Libby send love and honks. When it snows, they get little drifts of sparkles on their backs. So far, that is my only Christmas decoration!
Double yikes! Just as I was about to hit "submit," I saw Theron's post about his friend. So sorry to hear, and yet how wonderful that she and her boyfriend lived through it. I have known a few people who have survived just horrendous car crashes with the accompanying long hospitalizations and therapy, but who are doing very well now. Makes me want to keep Michigan's unlimited medical coverage for auto accidents... JMO.
