Well, she's gone. I started to clean her up, and she started to spasm... She was my only leghorn too, plucky girl and a good little layer. Always the first one out, even in the snow, and the last to go in, always curious and into everything.

Darn dogs. Darn kids.

I am just broken hearted cuz if I would have noticed the landscape timber moved from under the gate.... The dogs can't move it, and it was pulled away. They would have had to push it.

gonna delete the pictures... They are just horrible. I got to look her over a bit more, and I found more wounds under her wing on her right side, not punctured, just skinned also. I am so tempted to find a new home for the dogs right now. I would regret it, so I really won't. I just need to stress to the kids that they can not move the landscape timbers and wood beams from around the dogs fenced area. Especially the gate area where I can not nail it to the wood.

Thanks Mom and 1mutts for your help. I almost wish it were one of my roos instead. Not that I wish that on any of my chickens... BUT atleast it wouldn't have been one of my layers, and the roos area already going to freezer camp on Monday....

Well, I now have 4 chickens in the garage... Vanna has been in the garage with the silkies for over a week now at night time. I just had to put my Faverolle hen Buffy in there too. I so can not wait till these roosters are in the freezer. Rocky Rhode (previously Miss Isa) is seriously too agressive. Poor Buffs comb is all beat up! I caught him tonight, he chased her out of the coop and had her by her comb and even though she submitted he was still overly aggressive and she just laid there when he got off and let me pick her up and take her to safety. I swear! My sweet little pro red has turned into a raging lunatic! Earlier today, I had to keep booting him away from her and finally picked him up and dumped his butt on the other side of the yard. And she is the only one that he is interested in! Mr. Fluffers is totally worthless. He didn't even go to her defense. He will if its Oscar, but with Rocky he just didn't. Worthless drag queen chicken. So, even though he's not aggressive to me or the boys, if he's going to darn near rip her comb off, he's definetly going. I explained to Jace, that we were going to eat him. He says "No were not." SO, I explained that he's mean to the girls and we will not have a mean rooster to the girls, cuz sooner or later he'd be mean to him and his little brother. And that he made Buffy bleed. So, he then says "Ok then." What a good kid when he's not being a a turd. LOL.
This is him,

I know he is going to be so upset tomorrow when he gets home from his overnight...

Thanks all. I put the stuff in the medicine cabinet with the other first aid stuff. I have all types of gauze, pads, wound cleaning stuff, antibiotic ointment with pain killer, and alcohol cleaning solutions and pads... But your right, now I have what I need for the chickens too.

Well I bought a young pair of Silver Sebrights today. My friend wanted a pair because they are her favorites so I thought I would get her a pair. They are just beautiful and after I bought them my son says to me " Mom, can't we keep them? ( he is 37 years old and getting divorced, so he is living with us for awhile). I said I bought them for my friend. Then my hubby comes home and sees them and says to me " Hey, I like those. They are nice looking birds. I said I bought them for my friend. Then he says well, I think we should keep them. I said to him, you know I don't do bantams. I have one little bantam that is old and never lays an egg. She is my pet. Likes me to carry her around. Finally I gave in and said I guess we could. So now I need to find another pair for my friend.
