Good morning Michigan

I worked over on Mackinac Island for several summers - pretty much cured me of any fudge cravings after smelling that slightly burnt cooked fudge smell for months at a time.

All of my BA's are so sweet, even the roo, which is why DH wanted them for breeding. I just got an incubator for Christmas and the main thing stopping me from trying it out right now is the fact I have no where to put chicks.

Well heck, don't let that stop you. You can hatch them out and give them to me lol.

Took some pics this morning. Not the best ones, but, they wouldn't hold still with it being cold out.

My BA, Apple. She was peeking out thier door to see if I was still there waiting. I just missed my Light Brahma, she was peeking too.

All my girls outside for a moment.

Outside temp has spiked at a whopping 27 degrees F. All of the girls have been outside all day enjoying the sun and making quite the racket.
First it was egg songs early in the morning; now it's an almost crow-like sound coming from Extra Crispy on the woodpile and answers by both BLAs from 40 feet away. Sheesh, I can hear them out front by the street. The sound sure travels in this crisp, calm air.

I had kind of forgot that I had 3 BAs in spring. I gave them away at Chickenstock after my neighbor had her little melt-down. I wish I would have kept them although I think 1 was a roo.

do your Brahmas lay double yolkers?? Mine do it all the time.

Nope. At least not yet. She just started laying last month.

All the way up to 14 degrees here, from an overnight low of 9. Winter is here indeed. I thought the girls would be in today, but they have been out scratching around in the hay and sunning when the sun makes it into the run. Tough little things.

Just ordered some Euskol Oiloa (basque chicken) eggs for March. They sounded so interesting I couldn't pass them up.
