Hmmm. (Thinking about smell issues) Well, i do use manna pro, i was reading today that it has fenugreek i it, so i wonder if that has made their poo smell better? It defenitly firms them up. (sorry gross i know) When i give them their fish i defenitly kick them out for a long while! Most of the time it is so cold that i have frozen stuff anyway, but the warm weather was not a help in that area. Still, i like it better than the straw, but have not tried the chips, so i don't know the difference. What do you do with the chips in the spring, anyway? I definitly want to use the compost for the garden, so... and i don't remember who asked about bananas, but i give mine them sometimes a lot and have never had a case of constipation. If anything, all the fiber did the opposite! I did have to ease back after noticing some "sandpaper" eggs. With the vitamins, plus all the extra magnesium in the nanners the eggs got rough. I had pity on my girl, but i definitly got the stink ege!

I don't think she cared one bit. Chicken candy. Also, i don't know if this makes a difference, but my "coop" is a normal sized camper, and i only have 6 birds in there, counting the banty. It is super dry, and there is not a lot of birds, so i'm sure that makes a huge difference. If nothing else you can always switch out if it gets stinky! i was thinking about bagging the leaves and using them a little at a time next year. For me it's not about heat, but not having to try to clean frozen stuff off the linolium!!!! And "poop boards" make a huge difference too.

It was not just an egg song dang it! It was a warning and I were smart I would have ranout the darn door! Hawk got my Buffy! Now I have no faverolle hen! So, I just put her last egg under Leila, I know its 2 days after the others, but Buffy just laid it and its pure faverolle. I am so mad at myself. I saw that darn hawk after he finished, saw simply up in a tree and didn't think nothing if it cuz he was so small.

I can relate

Gary was back again today, but the hens have more alert since the last time and they took cover immediately. I let the dogs out and the hawk flew away.

I have a mess of different hawks here. The Coopers sit on our vehicles and keep a watch on the birdfeeders. The Red-Tails cruise the open fields from far above. So far none have taken an interest in my coops.

Factoid: Did you know that Eagles do not make the call/scream as seen in movies, heck they just sort of cough...the Red-Tailed Hawk is used as a voice-over in movies for all eagle scenes!
