I dont like the spy window. I feel nekkid......

Just think how Chickmate feels, having me follow her everywhere...
That's because the robe you are wearing is so threadbare...![]()

Chicken Grandma-Mom 2 - doesn't that sound like pneumonia in your hen that died? I mean the wheezing? I would clean all the water dishes with a 1 part bleach to 30 parts water solution and if any other hen wheezes, I would give them a pennicillan/amoxicillan drug for 7 days. I know Fifelaker used Denagard in the water for a respiratory infection in her flock and her flock is well. I know it is just a guess and I hope that is not going to happen but that is what I was thinking. So sorry, I hate to lose a chicken and we all do - it is part of the bargain.
It really didnt sound like pneumonia. I mean, it may have in my description. But, she really sounded like she had something caught in her trachea. She sounded like a kitten, then she sneezed violently. Nobody else has any symptoms. I sat out there for a long time, just listening to them. And she didnt have any goopiness, no discharge, very dry sneezes. I mean, it could have been pneumonia- never saw it in a chicken before. So I dont know what it sounds like. Thank you for the advice- I may as well take precautions and bleach the feed/waterers.
I should have taken her in to work and we could have looked in her nose and trachea with a laryngoscope . I will sit out there again today and make sure I dont hear anymore wheezes, or sneezes.
eta: I just went out and sat with the girls to listen to them and observe. Now I have myself paranoid and dont know if I am imagining problems, so I came back in. My sizzle is fluffed up. Is she just keeping herself warm? The black fruitloop sneezed a couple times- but she had just drank out of the waterer. SOOOO, after freaking myself out and my imagination trying to create the chicken plague, I decided that I was going to check them later and see if there are any of the symptoms presented again by the same birds.
RAZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I got an egg!!!!!!!!!! One of the fruitloops actually laid one...at least I think it was one of them. Its very small. Andddd its where the steps meet the door of the rabbit hutch. very dumb spot to drop an egg. I havent gone out to retrieve it yet. I can see it when I look out the bathroom window. Little goofy fruitloops have grown up. Polish really have to be for entertainment purposes only.
Okay, gonna go peek in the spy window and see who is awake and here now.
eta: FOUR eggs today! Two in the coop, one in the lean-to, and the little Polish egg on the steps! I guess everyone was just waiting for snow to start laying! Or maybe now they cant run around and are bored so they decided to lay...I dunno but my hubby is happy to have fresh eggs for breakfast.
