Im rather worried about my chick.

It has the worst balance! It cannot stand on my computer desk- I have to put it on a towel or blanket. Its a little slippery so thats okay- even though its friend did fine on it.
It is a wobbly chicken- could be because those feet are SOOOOOOOOOOOOO big it cannot figure out how to use them, i suppose.

But I have it on pine shavings- and I think it should not be wobbly. It has a wide stance and huge five-toed feet. It reminds me of a meat-chicken. Doesnt move around much- but she/it does like to be at whatever end of the cage I am closest to- manages to move that much, anyhow. :)

Nova-
Everyone here will tell you that your ducks dont need it because they are wearing down- coats. lol.
I add heat because I AM A WIMP- and if I am cold, everything must be cold. But, as long as the ducks have shelter from the wind and rain and snow and ice if they choose to, they should be fine. I couldnt handle the idea of bare feet standing on snow and ice- but they always chose to do that instead of coming in where it was clean and dry. (AND WARM- because as I said, I am a whimp!)

ANNND My velociraptor is pretty cute once you get used to it. lol

Mom- our vet has a new machine. It is like an MRI for birds. He can see all the organs ect... I could ask him if he could zap your chick (for free) with that machine and we could see what is right and what is wrong with it internally. I don't know that he would agree to do it but he is a pretty compassionate person. I love that chick.... It is just adorable.
What breeds could the parents be?

Nova - thanks for the reassurance about the keet. I hope you are right. The older folks roll the cage with them around the lobby and sit with the birds all day. If I was those birds, I would be suicidal. I like the idea of putting a nest box in there for privacy. Wish I could find a place to take that pair of keet and turn them loose into a big aviary. Anyone have a big aviary?

Can you stuff your duck house with straw, so they can stand on some too and then block them in the doghouse full of straw? Just overnight? Gonna go to ZERO tonight.

Have you tried putting vitamins in it's water? I had a chick get real wobbly and I read somewhere on here to give it some vitamin B complex crushed up in it's water. It helped her a lot.

i have been reduced to skimming.... sooooo many posts

I did my first bumblefoot treatment today. It was nervewracking, and i wish i could have waited until spring, but it was my roo and the wound was getting warm, so i knew it needed to be done ASAP. Thank God my rooster loves me!!!! he might be a backstabbing little turd, but he took it like a man. He seemed to know i was trying to help him. My birds are housed in an unused corner of my DH's family's house, so every morning we have to go out to them. I did not have warm running water, and only rudimentary supplies, so i pray that it works. Then i did my favorite hen. Both of them have it in both feet, but none of the others do; i can not figure it out. i only did the worst foot on each bird, so that they have at least one good foot to stand on! How long does it take to heal, supposing all goes well?

Oh, I think he is cute as all get out! Just mutated is all! Ya know, he's kinda like that puppy that has feet so big that it trips over itself... Only chicken style.
