RB - I go 10 days and have never had issues with hatch rates. You could set 5 every ten days and just do some staggered hatching. You'd have a good number in no time. And if you ever want to sell some hatching eggs keep me in mind. :)

Good morning all. Been peeping, I mean peeking a lot lately but haven't posted much. It's heck trying to get caught up on all the chatty posts

love your Turkey !!

We do want the milk, and I plan to give the excess to all of my birds and pigs. My new sister-in-law's grandpa owns a small beef farm just two miles from our place, and we can use the bull there to breed the cow. The bull is Limousin. Thanks for the advice!
Good morning everyone!!! It sure is beautiful today with sunshine!!!

I ordered some business cards, and would like to know what you all think of it.

Farmerboy, love your card and the name of your farm. I will look for them to be posted on the TSC and Farm&Home bill boards

Geesh. I am so pokey that everyone answered back already! Well, it was the thought, or so they say.
Anyway, here is a little bit of spring, it's more on the yellow side cause it needs sun and warmth to get the proper color, but it still makes me think of warmer days ahead. It was actually 3 rooted cuttings, so i got 3 rosebushes for $7!!! They will be 2'x2'

3 for the price of 1,,Good shopping!!!. and I a not concerned about getting worms from chickens. I know they are mostly species specific
but I also know people especially children that put every thing in their mouth can get worms. Thats all

Been off BYC for a while, partly due to a stupid virus in the belly and partly to be very busy so I just wanted to wish everybody a good day from the frosty lakeshore area.
Looks like you are all busy with your chickens/ducks/cows and keeping up with the weather! I am comfy at my 72 degree office while hubby is dutifully working on the chicken house and horse paddocks. He doesn’t know yet that I may have found me another horsey. I will tell him after a few drinks tonight. The sun has motivated me to start incubating again next weekend. With my new and improved egg turner this should be simple. If only I could figure out how it will turn my eggs. Me bounce off to do actual work at work.

See y’alls later.

PS. Opa, hope you had a good trip to KY.

pretty face markings.

Daron - I like the card. It's real nice and pretty. Now I know who to go to if I want some made up LOL

Here is a picture of my Partridge Penedesenca pullet eggs. White one in the middle just for comparison.

nice eggs!!!have to look up Penedesenca's don't know what they look like

was a beautiful day, chickens love the sun just like the rest of us. The moon is so bright If I had a window on the west side of my coop, they would have thought it was morning.

I love those dark eggs. I'm hoping to add a couple of Marans in spring for their dark brown eggs.

The yellow legged Uggo spent the afternoon out in the tent coop with Gravy. She is a bit more bold than the black legged Uggo. I still need to come up with names for them.

RBahmer - beautiful eggs, I was just reading about them yesterday and wondered what the chickens would be like.

1muttsfan - Beneath the Willows is one of my favorite places, they are very knowledgeable and have great plants.... but then they are only 15 minutes away so it's easy to stop in several times... even when I don't really need to.

Farmerboy - I like your cards. Did you design them yourself?

Raz - Thing 1 and Thing 2?

Spend part of the day baking for my son's 4-H bake sale. I have to complete a tote/bag order of 40 in 4 styles, by Monday for the local PTO.

It will pay for my seed order and upcoming hatching egg orders. However I have to go tie dye some more fabric tonight and I don't feel all that motivated.
I managed to break my broody quail, although she still isn't happy about it. Then we had a double escape of a pair of buttons. The male was flying around the kitchen, the female managed to get into the other cage. I just tossed the male into the cage with one bird in it, didn't look. A little later there was a lot of fighting going on and here I find two females together and two males together. OOPS!

Wrong cage! The males were getting along fine but the girls were really beating each other up. I fixed it and hopefully fixed the loose wires that started the whole situation to begin with.
Stay warm, the wind is just howling here.

BCM is what I was referring to, I should have been more specific.

Thing 1 & 2 are possibilities, but I'd like to keep the food theme. Maybe Cordon and Bleu? Not sure yet, watching them develop their personalities. Their appearance changes every day as well. They don't look near as ugly now as they did before.

This is #2000... What cornfusing thing shall I waste this epic number on.... What ever it is, well here it is...

Today I built a temp run for the 6 weekers. Just till they are big enough to hold their own. Had to rescue a tiny peeper from its accidental escape. Fell thru a floor vent in the coop. I could not figure out why I was hearing such a loud distress call, then I saw the little yellow fuzz ball in the under run. Jace rescued it for me, and we returned it to the demon mother. I mean Skeeter. Skeeter has decided that it is her duty to attack me today. Even when I was trying to clean the water dish and give fresh food. She went bat s#*t on me. Huh... Wonder what got in her craw...

Veena is back in the carrier. She will be a house chicken for the rest of the weekend. Empty crop... Drinking, but quit eating. Buttermilk, egg yolk, garlic and oat will be her food for the next few days. Along with some crumbles soften with buttermilk. Poor girl. She was all happy and running around this morning like she was normal... Got home from work, and she was under the bush. Would not sample the treats... I still smell nothing sour... Her butt is still clean, so no diareah(sp). I do not know what is wrong now. It bothers me. I am taking poop to vet office tomorrow morning. $7 fecal check.

The ducks have finally gotten in their new pool. Stupid arse ducks. All they do is eat and poop. They are pooping machines. They are lucky they are funny and cute as heck. I love their little duck faces. But I swear... Stupid.

still nothing profound... Oh well.
