snowflake, I had thought about getting the freedom rangers but since I have the dual purpose breeds I won't. Let me know how you like them. No more cornish x's here. DH does not like white meat and that is what they have a lot of.

Of course I am a Honey, that's why all the chicks love me.

Pussy willows, like most willows (Salix sp.) are easy to root. You can root them in a vase of water or I like to wrap the cut stem in paper towel and just keep it moist. If anyone wants a golden willow tree, let me know and I'll root some cuttings for ya.

I DO! I DO! No, really! Mine is a black pussy willow! Makes me sad- I wanted grey ones...so, yellow is close to grey...maybe they could get together and make some off color pussy willow color..yellow and black..OH! I want bumble bee pussy willows..

Lemon and Pepper are very cute! They inspired me to call a friend who has Turken hens and one of my Polish roos to ask for hatching eggs. Unfortunately they can't tell their Turken eggs from their other brown layers so no eggs for me.

An update on my neighbors, keep praying for Peggy and her family, her husband did not survive. She is still on a respirator and has some serious burns. This lady is a true hero. Her husband was disabled 5 years ago while working with his draft horses. She has taken care of him since as he was not able to walk well even with assistance. The fire started in his room and it and he were on fire. She went in and drug him out of the house, ended up on fire herself, put him in a vehicle and drove to the neighbors for help. This is an amazingly strong woman.

Never fear, I have two pairs of Turken crosses for you....they are black and white...two cockerels, two pullets...or maybe three roosters and one pullet...not sure...

Prayers for your neighbor- I cant imagine how awful...

Some times it is easy to become self absorbed with our own issues and problems and we lose sight of how wonderful life is. Then you read of someone like Taprocks neighbor and you're reminded how fortunate we really are.

Pictures of little guys always bring back wonderful memories. Yesterday I talked with my baby boy Scott. Next weekend he and Rebecca will be here from their home in southeast Missouri. When I look at what a big man he has grown into it's hard to imagine he was ever this small.

Where do I cut the branches? I will do it today But mine are black..not the cool gray ones.

Oh the pleasure was all mine. I had a wonderful time and hubby REALLY like your chili. Got home and my son and daughter in law was here. She did my dishes for me and washed my eggs and took care of them when we were gone. Grandson did all our chores. Got the chickens settled into their place and the babies in theirs. I bet they were glad to get home LOL. Thank you so much HH. Would have stayed a little longer but it was a long drive and had to check sheep. NO babies while I was gone.

My dad said that he does not want the Dexters for a few reason- 1. Too much money for a cow and calf, 2. We will need more milk then a Dexter cow can produce. But he like the Dexter dual proposes, so, after looking around on Craigslist for a Jersey/Dexter type, and found this one for a half price of the pure Dexter cow-
She is expecting her first calf in July, and was bred to dexter bull last fall. She is 20 month old Jersey Heifer, very friendly, and halter broke. But she is quite a drive by an hour and a half. But my dad seems to think that she would be great for us, and I hope that we would get her within a few weeks.

I just love her face.
