My dad was a 4H leader (beef)here in Eaton county for years, later on I also became a 4H leader (swine) and I can remember echoing his words to the kids when it came time for them (animals) to board the waiting semis to the slaughter house.

"Just remember that you gave this animal a wonderful life, if it had gone to a feedlot it would never have received the care you gave it. You did yourself proud to this animal and it is time for it to fulfill what it was bred to do"

I could never do them in. Of course, I grew up in Chicago and never was exposed to the farm life. I just love all animals and the more the merrier!

We are home now. Thanks so much all three of you for the hospitality. The Italian food was fantastic! You certainly know Italian.

We enjoyed our stay, although it seemed brief. Your place is beautiful, I swear that house belongs in Florida. Judy.....the lady who didn't want chickens to begin with.....talked to the peeps almost the entire way home.

Kristen is not shy...she promptly asked for a hug and got one! Upon leaving hugs were shared.....except I didn't hug Mr. Chickflick.

I called Vicki as we were getting close and she literally pulled in my driveway in no time to pick up her birds. They are in her care now.

Looking forward to meeting you all again.....and hugs!

I'm glad someone lives in this neighborhood that can cook!!

It was a great visit and it was nice to meet a handsome sweet chicken coop builder and his very nice wife

I understand completely. Really I do. Myself being raised on a farm, we had a different look upon things we raised.

Neither view is wrong.

We'll just have you over for dinner using our chickens and you'll be fine with that.

Hey-I admired my change jug this morning, its overflowing!!

The Chickensock is being arranged by Wynette. I believe it is still July 11, location unknown but probably someplace central. Lansing area maybe???

Does anyone near Ingham County have any clue as to where we can get a copy of dairy goats? We are leaning more towards a pygmy or nigerian dwarf. We are thinking about 2 does and maybe a wether. I found some on Craigs List, and sent an email. I got one response, but nothing else. We have our market wethers lined up, but the girl wants dairy.

Miss Jayne-

I have eggs coming from Millington- I just mapquested, and they are practically your neghbors.

Lets see how long it takes the postal service to get them to me.

Feathers Acres-

Want to meet me somewhere and get the bunny?

I'm starting to get a little nervous. We put a deposit on a persian kitten about a month ago. I have been sending emails to the woman and haven't gotten a response. My gut is starting to tell me there may be problems....
