Poor Chunk..that was the second picture I took of it, so it was probably blind. The first was blurry so I did it again.
M.Sue= my banties lay sporadically, whenever they want, And for the longest time I didnt think anyone was laying anything- until I found the secret nest stash..seems that my banties love to hide their eggs.

Taprock- I feed my broodies the same chicken feed as everyone else. I put a dish near them so they dont have to get up. Each one of them act like starving chickens and always eat from the dish when I do it that way.

Im excited! And Maybe my other two fluffbutts will go broody and I can stick some of these eggs under them, because I am going to have a HOUSE FULL.. Are the blue eggs from the EE? Those have me geeked up. :)

Your chickens were just answering the question, "why did the chicken cross the road?"...

Im only bringing what people tell me they would like. If I post pictures, and you say...OH, I love that chicken...I want it, then I will bring it. If not, all surplus will go to my brother in law. HEY....can I interest you in your own Uggo Rooster? I will bring him to Chicken Stock..along with Sam's...

Thank you...more lamb pictures please...they are so little and cute and when I think about them, I feel bad for every gyro I ever ate.

Couldnt you just summarize for me so I dont have to go look it up? Also, I meant to quote your turkey post. I want a turkey really bad as well. I considered the midget white ones. They are small. However, someone told me turkeys are LOUD...and my neighbors would freak.
If they are a smaller blue egg, then they are from our bantam americauna X silkie hens. We have two of them and run around with the large laying flock because they think they are just as big or bigger as everyone else. They didn't get the nickname "The Sassy Sisters" for nothing.

Travel around Muskegon area is messy with about 4 inches of wet snow. I love it - need the moisture and I sure hope the sap flows next month for my syrup making. Luckily I can, literely, walk to work this morning. anyone that remodels can understand this - remove all gal H/W & C/W plumbing, in a dusty crawlspace, that has about 10 percent flow and replace with PEX. It's a small house near mine and I find it amazing that anyone could live there without water flow (barely). Anyway, onto what this site is about Chickens - mine were all riled up yesterday- I think the hens crowed louder than the roos as an alarm. A pair of Pileated Woodpeckers decided to root around in a rotten woodpile I've been moving into the woods. The cry they make is unlike any other bird and those woodpeckers were larger than crows. Hope they stake a claim in my woods but I think the chickens feel otherwise. Well, work and trying to read backwords for hours just don't work so by the time I get back in here I'm sure there will be 100 pages gone by. Have a happy snowy day people

Good morning Michigan, no snow here today or until Sunday according to the weather report. As has been the case the last 2 years, the snow seems to be passing us south.

Love the Sassy Sisters, they look like tough little things.

I know there is little chance, but does anyone have bantam cochins in Brown Red? I have been having a heck of a time finding them for the last 2 years, and the only really good one I hatched out last year was killed.

No snow to speak of here. A bit on the grass but any that fell on cement turned to slush. So shoveling required. Before I left for school yesterday, the weather donks were crying "warning" 8 inches of heavy wet snow. Got out at 9:00 expecting to see snow, but nothing. The 11:00 news said "watch" for 3-5 inches overnight and a bad commute. Looks like a half inch at most.
What does this have to do with poultry you ask? Just scientific proof that Chicken Little was a meteorologist.

We have about 3 to 4 inches already. School was cancelled. That is all I care about.

There is now abut 3 inches out there. As I type this I can see my kids through the windows in the front yard; the youngest is eating snow. I'd like to think it's unadulterated, but with the number of critters here... it's unlikely. And those researchers wondered why farm kids have stronger immune systems.

Hey, RB, what's the lamb count today?

It's yours if you want it!! :) and it's very bearded...very poofy! lol. I have no interest in partridge...trying to find a home for the gorgeous rooster who keeps throwing it in his chicks. (hint hint nudge nudge wink wink!)
Really ?? I'll surly take it. And maybe the roo too. And you aren't very far from me either
