Yes, i think you got it! I thought they had poufy faces, though? Even though we didn't get much time together, he was the sweetest thing, snuggling my hand and talking with funny sounds. They must be a nice breed. I am kinda sad that there are no more here.

You can't really tell by that picture, but I have a another where you can kind of see part of one of their faces and the cheeks were a bit poofy. It became more pronounced as they got bigger. When I got them last year, I bought them separately because there was only 1 at the TSC I got my first my bantams at so I got the other one a day or so later at a different TSC. They were the sweetest chickens to have. The girl always came running when she saw me and she would just stuff her little poofy face with whatever treat I had. Unfortunately, we lost her to a skunk. I was so sad, but I was able to track her down and bury her. And her brother, Frenchie, was one of the two recently lost, as well. It's unfortunate, but they ran so slow because the feathers on their feet just slowed them down so much it made them easy targets.

Fuzzy- I just saw your post for grown up pics. Unfortunately, I don't have any of the girl because any pic she was in was only partial or not focused good, plus we lost her around August. But I do have some pics of Frenchie.

I got some in Albion and some in Charlotte. Both places had a bunch of them. If you can't get to one of the places just let me know and I will pick some up for you. They are $1.99 each and straight run.

Darn. That would be a bit of a drive to get them. I guess I'll have to really hope one of ours gets them, too.

They are black ones and just beautiful. I got a few other bantams also that I have no idea what they are. I think a couple are silver sebrights and golden sebrights. Not sure though. Good luck on your TSC's up there. Hope they have them for you.

The d'uccles are the sweetest breed I have ever had. However they also are the most vulnerable to predators because of their feathered feet (can't run) and feathered faces ( can't see ).
They also are SO DOCILE that they will be at the very bottom of the pecking order and may need to be kept separately.

They are my favorite breed and I would never get just one, I would get 6 of them so that they have plenty of friends with the same personalities.

The chicken in the avatar photo of mine to the left is Bobbi, my mille fleur d'uccle. She was 1.5 pounds at her largest. She laid almost every day from 6 months - 2.5 years. I did have to give her supplemental heat and extra predator protection and we had to keep her separate from the seabrights as they beat her up - everyone beat her up.
