Well here is my two cents on Gallbladder problems.

My mom DIED because when she went in to have it removed it was too late. The infected gallbladder had caused her body to be septic.

It wasn't pretty. Don't play roulette. Get it out.

edit - that sounds kind of harsh doesn't it? But we were heart broken and you guys have smaller kids too, so better to let your world crash for 2 weeks than something worse.

My issues are my wisdom teeth. Need surgery to remove, but no one will touch them without insurance, and the last job that i had their "insurance" wouldn't have even touched the cost. :( Don't hurt like you guys, but it is scary.

No, not harsh. It is a very serious ailment. Will an ER take someone without insurance, though, for a gall bladder? they won't for teeth.

Nova, do you have a friend who could quietly cover your route for you?

3 hours to do 2 problems which is better than I expected. Took a break and made a fresh pot of coffee. Now back to analyzing udder irritation of mechanical vs. manually milked cows.

I am curious about the analyzed results about that. We plan to milk the cow manually, and I work at the farm that milks mechanically.

It's not real data. It's just a story problem to make the test more difficult. Last problem is on deck and my brain is fried.

Ah HA! i found the chocolate orpingtons ad http://greenfirefarms.com/

whew. gonna be a lot more waiting in my future, unless i win the lotto or something. :)

On the gall bladders, according to the 90 year old guy that used to own a campground up by mesick said he got rid of a gall stone by eating a raw onion every day

The biggie is getting your body PH right. If you have the gallbladder removed there is a chance that you will keep making stones, but in a different organ. Also what they don't tell you is that you will have issues from then on with eating greasy food.
I don't think I could've handled a raw onion daily.
As for stones, no they don't tell you that, but you are right. Since then, I have had a problem with kidney stones twice. Also right on fatty/greasy food. One way to help that problem is fiber.

eta: DH found a way to get me to think twice on the fatty food, too. He stuck the surgical photos on the refrigerator.

No it isn't. The one and only known stone I had was so big it blocked the exit. There was no way it was moving out without help.

I don't know about the insurance issue, but chicken grandma gives a good reason why they would remove it without the insurance.

Fuzzy - I think for the wisdom teeth you just give the dentist your first born child for collateral and then pay them back in installments.
For the gall bladder you can check with Medicaid and see if you can sign up pre emergency.
A married couple I know got pregnant and were pleasantly surprised until they realized their health insurance did not cover pregnancy or delivery. So they applied to Medicaid for that coverage and the pregnancy and delivery was covered for them. I always think it is best to tackle things head on - surgery is needed so start figuring out how to get it done.
Nova - you would have a lot of help from those of us close by. Meals, pet care, tranportation to and from hospital, 'mom sitters'. You got it!
