Cool, although I bet there are some people a bit closer. It seems as though there are people spread out all over the state. I have been suprised there aren't more people between the Redford area and Howell.

Where at on BI? St James?

I grew up in Boyne City and went to BI a few times.

It's homecoming weekend soon, isn't it?

btw, Is the Shamrock still open?

I surprised to see that no one has posted in a few days. I have been busy trying to keep money coming in so I can't say to much. To bad my pension doesn't match my pleasures.
MyGirlScout since I haven't quite figured everything out about using this site and can't "quote" I can just tell you to scroll back to page 51 of this thread for information about the Williamston auction. Today I met Vicki2x2 and sold her my BLRW rooster. I was sure glad to see him go to a 4H family. He is gorgeous and should show extremely well for them. I also really liked being able to put a face with a name. It was interesting to find out why she calls herself Vicki2x2. Which gives me an idea for a new thread. Looking forward to reading more posts. Sam

Hi Sam,

Yes, it was great meeting you too! The rooster is settling in and I am just in love!! He is gorgeous!!! We named him Victor!! My oldest daughter can't wait to take him to fair next year. He is going to kick butt!!

So did anyone get to an auction this past weekend? I am thinking about trying to get to the one in Dundee in a few weeks, maybe try to hit the Williamston one in a couple. Just wondering if anyone else has had experiences with them.

Williamston Auction? When? Where? We are only about 30 miles east of Williamston outside of beautiful downtown Lennon (1 blinker light). Looking for some chicken activities as our chickie kids will not be old enuf to show any time soon.

Hi Zimmy,

I am originally from Northern Mi too. Where are you in N. MI? I was raised in Kalkaska, but lived in Atlanta for the first few years before that and still have family in both places. We live south of Lansing now, in much more moderate weather!

Hello from Frankfort, Michigan (near Traverse City)!

We are in the process of buying a farm house in Eaton Rapids, complete with a big red barn (see my avatar). I'm so excited, and can't wait to get chickens and we haven't decided yet what else.

I have so many questions and can tell that there are some great people here, just full of useful information. I enjoy reading your posts, and will be asking some questions as soon as I get more time to myself... ha ha ha, with a 2 year-old and a 3 month-old, that means staying up later than I should.

Quick question for Michigan chicken people: if we get into our house in September, will that be too late to get baby chicks to raise for springtime eggs? I mean, will they be big enough to withstand the winter before the cold weather hits? They will be in the big red barn, and I'll have to figure out the details on that part too.

Anyway, I'm glad I found this site... cheers! Valerie

Hello Valerie! Welcome aboard! I hope you post some pictures of your barn soon! Does it have electricity? They would be fully feathered by the time the cold weather comes and if you can provide heat, I would think it would work. The others on here will have more experience/ input than I do. What kind of chickens will you be raising?
