Thanks everyone. This one is rough and I have a bunch of should of, could of running through my mind. We're really going to miss that little guy.

Hi there HH.

Well, for my coop:
it is an 8x16 camper, and so far i have removed everything but the bathroom and one bench/shelf by one window. I plan on putting a little roofed run behind it, using one of the square holes that the water heater hose went out as the pop door. For perches, i have 2- 2x4's mounted along the bay windows in the back, just far enough apart that in theory no one poops on the perch behind them, but close enough they can hop over if someone is coming thru. Under that i have a chicken wire poop shelf, and i re-use feed bags to catch it. newspaper got too wet to move easily, and these can be hosed clean or thrown away. I would like to build a fenced partition wall that butts up to the bathroom, so i have a place to go in without being bum rushed at the door, and i could set up a hang out spot there for me. That would cut them down to 8x8. I may put the nest boxes there, following hillbilly's excellent ideas and the POW idea of being able to collect from the other side of the wall. Under the deluxe nest box can be my ER/broody spot. The bathroom is gonna be my storage area. The other thing i am thinking about is a wall mount feeder, rabbit style, but bigger? I am wondering if the feed/watering should not be do-able from the other side of a wall for when other people are babysitting for me, perish the day. May cut a hole in the bathroom wall, the food is already there. I like having a linoleum floor, i can wash it. When i redo the walls i want them to be washable too. mabie linoleum also, at least part way up? Something washable cause they get things in odd places! I am trying to come up with a screened doggy door for when the pop door is open, to cut back on mosquitoes. They are super bad here, and they go after the bird's faces. I like having the screened windows. Needs wired to be more secure though. Other than heat in the summer, i really like the camper coop. It's big enough that they don't have to go out if they don't want to, and i can get in and clean easy. Predator proof, except for mice. I got mine for only $300, believe it or not! I have seen much tinier coops for a whole lot more.

Oddly enough, I keep getting this mental image of rolling down the road, selling super fresh eggs out of my coop, ha ha ha. I wonder what the cities would think of that one.......

Fuzzy- RaZ's ordinance guy would probably be following your mobile egg selling coop down the road! What a fun thought!

How is the heat in the camper now? Did it get hot last Summer?

Could you open all windows and run a fan?

Don't worry, i let them out when it's hot!
I have it situated in a corner where there is shade most of the day. I have the windows open now, even at night. Usually by the time it gets this hot there are actual leaves on the trees.....! i am going to fence around the base of the camper so they can use the space under there when they are cooped. that's where they roll around anyway when it's hot! (full shade, all the time) For the front, where people can see, i am running lattice along the bottom to be decorative. I would like to build a predator proof screen door too, when i can.

I can't, but it sure would be funny to roll down Raz's road! Can't say anything to a moving coop, i don't think! Neighborhood kids would probably be thrilled to go in and pet all the chickens if i stopped at anyone's house!

Mom2, thanks for meeting us halfway today. The uggo roos rode home just fine and are settling in at my friend's place. Mark says thanks again for the roos, he really likes the naked necks.
Hope you can spend time resting and recovering and staying out of traffic jams now.

Placed two fingers on the edge of my wrist and I could detect a pulse so it's going to be another good day. There was a half pot of coffee left from last night so I guess I'll just nuke a cup or two of that until Hope and Granny get up. Not sure what I'll be doing today but th fact that it will be accomplished without wearing a coat if just one more reason that it i going to be a good day.

I hope all of the new folks know how welcome they are and that they all click on the link in my signature line to get all the information about Chickenstock.

See? a little basketball with legs, a head, and a tail! If you sit in the chair by my coop, you will get her in your lap. Woe to any other bird you are trying to hold! I want some of her babies in the worst way, but no broodies yet. I'm hoping the cochin or the orpington might, but this is their first year so they may not? Do hens brood right away? I could borrow an incubator, but i really want them to be raised natural if possible. though if someone don't get busy i may have to, since i don't know her age and i don't want her to quit laying on me first!

Want to borrow one of my silkies? They brood every 5 minutes.

Your little hen is adorable....and really round.

No, he didn't like the color of the crocks I was wearing. I finally told him tomorrow I will wear the pink ones instead of the blue ones.
They weren't yellow were they? That's the "treat" color.

thank you! I thought so too! Especially Dan with is super feathered legs. I am so grateful that Robin was able to take them!

For you prayer warriors out there. My husband has a friend that turned 91 yesterday. He rang my husband's cell this morning and I happened to be up. I usually don't answer his phone but I saw it was him. He was really upset and wanted my husband to rush him to the hospital (he doesn't live far from us). He's not been feeling well this week so if you can, just keep him in your prayers. His name is Earl.
