Is the bulb in a reflector? Can you change the angle so the heat isn't concentrated?I have the same set-up but the 250W is too much. Tonight I will probably have no heat on at all! The brooder is still 85degF and it's almost 10PM.

One hangs from a chain, so yeas and no - in a reflector, but can't change angle. The other ste-up I have is my own design - a camear tripod with a reflector light hanging off a channel metal boom. That one can be raised, swung, and angled. It's just so hot outside a samller buld seems to provide enough heat right now, of course if the temps plunge we'll switch back to a higher wattage bulb. last year it was colder and my 250W worked great. This year someone turned up the heat? All of our lilacs are almost ready to bloom - OMG!
I guess that means egging her house is out.... and the eggs would give it away.I don't play those kind of games,
I keep forgetting you guys are getting 80's down there - we have been getting mostly highs of up to the 50's
That's how my dad got started with welding, that's what he does now. They are in demand, even in this economy, believe it or not. He has been through 4-5 jobs in the last year alone, to find the "right" one, since he had worked for his old company 12 years. Set in his ways and stubborn. That he can find different ones so quick is amazing, considering how hard it is to get hired these days, but companies say that the new college grads just don't have the real job skills to do the kind of weld jobs they want. Anyway, doing that big structure welding takes skill, and companies are always amazed at how neat and solid his welds are. If your guy is skilled like that, he could look online for welding jobs. They pay good, I have seen dad get $16 an hour at hire, with no college.Thaks Fuzzy, he does construction of big structures - he is one of those crazy guys who climbs around in the structural steel 30 stories above ground. He is also a very good welder.
HH those beautiful barred rocks make me feel ... Hungry ... look at the drumsticks on those birds![]()
I have both of my brooders in the house. The ambient temperature is 72 degrees. The ducklings were away from the lamp until I fed them some peas from the fridge. Now that they have eaten, they are near the lamp but not exactly under it. Meanwhile in the other brooder, the chicks are spread all over the place, even after snacking on the same cool veggies. I guess they decide for themselves where they are most comfortable. One hangs from a chain, so yeas and no - in a reflector, but can't change angle.
