My neighbor just now came over and said,"There are like fifteen baby chicks in my yard"...lol..oops..

I went over and all of Mama hens babies had gone through the slats of the privacy fence into the yard where there is grass. I clapped my hands...they ran back in my yard, and you could hear Mama throwing a FITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT....

I guess, it just the first time I ever bothered to read the label. AND this is the first time I specifically bought DUCK feed. Usually I just give them the layer cumbles I get for the others. BUT, the others have not been eating as much feed that last several days... go figure... and I decided to get them their own feed. Thinking that would ultimately be better right? Right... I haven't really bothered with the chickens feed, cuz I do know they are omnivores, and there for, I don't mind. Heck, I will toss out the pork bones... Last year I gave them the turkey carcass and that did not last too long. Heck, I was raking, and found some leg bone yesterday. LOL. WOW, a peice of Christmas dinner still there. BUT, I wouldn't have expected pork bi product in duck/geese food.

And thats how my dogs would get a new chew toy...

Olive, thats funny. I filled up the kids sled with water and set it for the chickens. It did not take long for them to stand in it. IN MARCH! That is just not right. LOL.

Ducks and geese are omnivores, too. Ducks more so than geese, but both. Don't believe me? Buy 'em some feeder fish and put them in the yard in a bowl of water. Fantastic entertainment, that!

AND THEN SOME!

Oh, I know they are... Heck, I think that is why they like that stream across the street. Full of tadpoles and minnows. The feeder fish... They do not last long, and I like to get them when I give them fresh pool. Then its a riot. I think they'd eat me too if I was more tasty. They sure let me know when I take to long to give them their worms... I mean heck... It takes me a while to dig them out, they can take a while to eat them.

Anyone who may be interested, Ultimate fitness here in Holland has a special going on. (THINK I WILL JOIN), $14 a month, no contract. Oh yeah! I can handle 14 a month. I hate working out at home. I never seem to be able to do it. Kids want to get on the elliptical with me, or the aero glide.. But 14 a month! WOW.

I have one room totally dedicated to exercise equipment. I have a deluxe Bowflex machine, a very good treadmill, two ab machines and I used to take a hour each morning and work out. For the last couple of years I have found it increasingly difficult to find the motivation to exercise. I'm not sure if it is the increasing problems with my hips and knees and the associated pain, or the large 6'x7' mirror that occupies on wall. Perhaps looking into that mirror while working out and seeing just how old I have become is too scary.

After a couple of months of low egg numbers the girls are finally starting to pull their weight. Maybe my lecture about slackers going to freezer camp and then the shock of having roost mates disappear in the night has trigger this upswing in production. I am contemplating firing up the incubator and hatching some Welsummer chick and maybe some bantam as well. I have 3 breeds of bantam, Vorwerk, Spangled Hamburg, and Blue Orpingtons. If anyone is interested drop me a PM so I have an idea how many I should hatch.

Maybe not too funny...but kinda. :) I know the feeling though, sort of. I have a treadmill that is currently a chicken brooder platform lol. But I haven't gotten on it lately because everything jiggles just a little too much for me right now...I think I've lost a few lbs this past week though since Ive been constantly working in the yard & building coops and such. Here's hoping anyway.

And thank GOD it's finally raining!! I can hear it on the roof at work (this hellhole has no windows) and now it's thundering. That makes me happy because my grass seed needed watering!! :)
