And thank GOD it's finally raining!! I can hear it on the roof at work (this hellhole has no windows) and now it's thundering. That makes me happy because my grass seed needed watering!! :)

Not near the Muskegon area yet, maybe tonight - we seriously need it. It's like summer hard pan already. Of course, it has been way too nice but putting ice in my rabbits water is just too much this soon. I'm glad I decided to do my meaties early if this is any indication of what summer will be like.

Thats a good deal, they're not a bad outfit for working out either...

I used to go to the gym, 6 days a week... was almost to the point where I could have competed... ok, not huge muscles, but I'm pretty sturdy! Never looked or felt better then those 2 years. I find it very hard to get back into doing it for the same reasons as Opa, I have a bowflex and treadmill etc too at home, but we rarely use it. I have been walking about 2 miles on my lunch break with this nice weather!
But I know that if I could hit the weights again, it will be better for those joints that protest so much!

Well, I need to read to catch up, but I had these quotes from this morning to respond to, so I am going to do that first so I don't lose them.

Jerusalem Artichokes are tubers.

It is the foliage and seeds that they like, from what I understand.

My lilacs and roses have started leafing out. This may not be pretty.

Same here, should we cover them do you think?

Ok.. I took a swig of my iced coffee... That is some good stuff that is in the cooler. I'd say better than the Starbucks, especially since 2 quarts cost the same as 1 large bottle, or a fresh one from the Starbucks store...

Gack, remind me to make you a cup of cold press coffee from delicious, fresh ground beans sometime, and we'll see if I can't get you as spoiled as I am.

I think it'd be very hard to really clean anything with a plug for drainage. Those darn ducks (and geese) make SUCH a poopy mess. Even two days of swimming with a couple ducks and there's a layer of poop sludge in the bottom of their pool. That's why I like kiddy pools, they're light, easy to dump out and wash out on a regular basis. Plus, as someone who has to buy stock tanks for actual stock, those pools are a HECK of a lot less expensive. LOL! You can buy a nice big one for $15 at the big box store, plenty of room for several ducks at a time and it'll last for years even through the abuse of being flipped over to dump it out every other day all spring, summer and fall. Plus: no ramps needed; they can jump/fly in and out without help.

I've found the waterfowl don't much care about the depth of their water; it's the surface area they like. Big enough to zoom around in, get your friends in with you. To get the same surface area in a stock tank you're looking at upwards of $200. Even if you replaced your kiddy pool yearly you'd be looking at a decade to get your money back out of the stock tank and with it buried it probably wouldn't last that long anyway.

ETA: I've had the same big, $15 kiddy pool for the ducks and geese now for 3 years and it's still going strong. And that included one summer of it being abused by pigs, to boot.

Thanks, Olive, I think you have officially convinced me that, despite what I thought, I do not actually want ducks.

YAY! I love hatching babies! Take pictures!

I hate when my hatches happen when i am not at home. it never gets old, watching those little babies come out of those eggs.
missed it..what breeds are you hatching? No, I dont think I missed it, I think I failed to retain it. lol

Your pictures have been great! And I agree it never gets old! I have Sizzle, Calico Cochin, Showgirls (from Star Bright Farms), and Blue Frizzle Polish all bantams.

Hey TC how'd that doc appt go?

Well, he wouldn't give me a cortisone shot - said I have to have another MRI next week. I understand - he said that if the surgery is not done at the right time (left too late), it may have deteriorated too much and it won't be repairable at all. So, it's off for another MRI and then we'll see how far it's gone.

I don't want to wait until it's too late - I paint and make pottery, and I couldn't do that with a useless arm (my dominant left). Just going to have to be careful with it for the next week or so.

(thanks for remembering me

I have a buddy who can't have the rotor surgery now because of that reason.

Juise, I love love love coffee. I am also an instant gratification kinda girl. Lol. It'll have to be ready when I get there! Lol.

Got the fire going. Its just smoldering... And there is a chance of rain... Its never going to finish at this rate. But, yard looks better.

Can't get any or "debris" to even smolder, it's so wet here. Oh well, what's another month or four!

It's thundering and we have grey clouds, but no rain yet. I've got a gilt due any time so a storm is par for the course.

I bet. What I meant though, was you were talking about planting from seeds. Jerusalem artichokes are pretty much fool proof, you just need to grow them from tuber divisions.

Just sit and cuddle a chick.

I HAVE 11 pips! I have tons of computer work to do today so I keep checking the incubator. I can't wait to see the little guys, they sure are peeping up a storm!

Yay! So exciting

MOM. If you starve your body of nutrition, vitamins, minerals and protein in particular, you will have a very rough and long recovery. Your bone marrow needs to replace many of those blood cells that will not be viable any longer, and your white blood cells will also be affected, making you more susceptable to infections for a while. You do need to avoid fats and caffeine, but not all foods. Please take care of yourself and rest up.

My W/BW Am eggs came today from Wild Horse Farms, she sent 18(!) and now my incubators are REALLY full. They are the prettiest blue eggs I have seen yet.
