You guys are killing me with all the bunnies! We had dwarf rabbits when I was little, and while I loved my rabbit and cared for her, they were not terribly interactive or affectionate pets... You all keep tempting me to get bunnies for my kids, lol, but, okay, who has kids with bunnies, and how much do they really interact and play? I mostly remember cleaning up after mine, and finding weeds she liked.

Olive, it's a good thing I am pretty sure you are too far away from me, or I would be just your sucker.

LOL! Yeah, it's a couple hours if I'm not mistaken about your location.

Whoops -- meant to respond on the kids and bunnies. My kids have/have had pet bunnies and they interact with them a lot. My older daughter's male rex is an attention hound. She even sets up obstacle courses in her room and coaxes him through them with carrots. LOL! My younger daughter's holland lop passed away of old age, but when she was alive she, too, was very interactive. She was even trained to go back in her cage on her own if you shook a box of treats.

Mom2 is a vet tech who does rescue of wild animals and has been WANTING a bunny........

Well, she's welcome to it. But I do have limits and a three hour drive (one way, six hours round trip) for a wild bunny who is very, very likely to die is beyond them. I'm guessing it's probably beyond her's, too.

She will take it, but give you 2 roos in return.

LOL! Ummm... no.

Oh Babigyrl that's just.... squeeeee

OK does anyone know if Muscovy ducks can be kept in Michigan? I keep seeing things about invasive species but officials turning a blind eye or whatever. I know I want ducks (specifically Muscovy) as well as chicks but it seems like they're a no-go in MI? We're talking like less than 10.

Anyone know?

Part of why I ask is it seems like obtaining Muscovies around here is tough. I'm not seeing them at hatcheries mentioned. Do you think they'll have some ducklings at the show in Imlay City on the 28th? Or should I order eggs from elsewhere?

Yes, you can keep Muscovies. The reason you don't see them from many hatcheries is that the ducklings do not ship well. If you'd like I have some hens working on a nest -- as well as a few scovie eggs under a goose -- and you're welcome to any ducklings that hatch.

It's less than a week old -- both eyes and ears still closed and very little fur -- so there's a good probability it'll die regardless of what I try to do for it, but you know there's always that possibility it'll live just to spite me. LOL!

Not very likely that it would make it. This is one my brother tried to save after accidentally destroying the nest. There were four babies and none survived with all the care and feeding he did for them.

Headed back outside to keep working on the chicken tractor.

yes you can.

I've got a pair with 9 cute little 6 week old ducklings right now. Mine are mutts, nothing special about them, the original mom was from a Quaker farm up here and the original dad from a lady in Hubbard Lake with lots of birds all over the place.
