I've never seen one either. I don't know if it's our location, or what it is, but we don't seem to have issues with them here despite being rural.

Just came in and felt something crawling up my neck - a tick, of course.Stripped the kids down and looked them and their clothing over, and they were clear. Started on myself, and found another tick on the inside of my shirt!
That makes 4 ticks in as many days! Sat down for the evening yesterday and felt one crawling up my neck, and just the previous night I woke up at 3am and foggily felt something crawling on me, pulled my arm out of the blankets and there was a tick crawling up it.
I'm getting ticked off, and probably a nervous tic to boot! Sure are a lot of them this year! And can I just say, one more time,

I have never even seen a tick before, Hope I would recognize one if I saw it.
If you don't have long grasses and such around your property, they probably aren't a problem. Its usually when you get into wooded areas or long grassy fields where you might see them. At my parents' property they get really bad the last 5 years or so and I hate it!! There's those tall field grasses everywhere, and the ticks climb up to the top and just hang out there, waiting for someone or something to walk by so they can grab on. It's called "questing" when they do this. Gives me the creeps.I've never seen one either. I am not sure, but I think Spring and especially Fall are supposed to be the worst for ticks. Or the best for ticks, if you ask them.
I can't believe you guys have never seen a tick before! I normally see one every once in awhile, but this is pretty insane. We live in a pretty wooded area with lots of dune grass, so prime tick country. I pull them off the cats all the time, medication or no medication.
They do creep me out a bit just as they are, but it is the Lyme Disease that scares the bejebus out of me. Ottawa county has a really high rate, too.![]()
Actually, we have lots of that -- we're in the heart of MI grain and dairy country. There's fields and woods for miles and miles around. We've personally got grassy fields and wooded areas right on the property and we spend a lot of time out there. They just don't seem to be bad here like they are in other areas.![]()
I know a young gal who got bit in a park in a big city of all places and contracted Lyme Disease, watching how down and out she was from it was horrible.
