That was so corny.....I loved it. You couldn't help yourself could you?
Irresistible when it had the perfect set-up. Probably once in a lifetime since I've never been in a conversation about round vs square bales an probably never will again. Corny jokes and puns are my favorite. If my icons worked on this phone you'd see the smiley under a chair.

Where is the coffee? What flavor is it? Well what roast? I have not had coffee in over a week because of the gall bladder and I have to drink vicariously thru other drinkers...
Over here i have maxwell house master blend, percolated on the stovetop, with a splash of milk to cool, with a large liberal spoonfull of sugar......and a few drips of vanilla flavoring added just because. :)
I hope you get better SOON! :)

Mom 2em All I ate Chinese yesterday, buffet style. SOMETHING I ate I am no longer allowed to eat.
I would lay odds on some type of rich sauce, since the meat/veggies are lean. Also, they use liberal amounts of MSG in their food, not sure if that was it for you, it bothers some people.

taprock Wash your hands with salt and it takes care of the smell.
Thanks! I'll have to try this one, we use them quite frequent. I wouldn't mind if it was onion smell on my hands, but it ends up being more like an awful sock, and it wakes me up at night when i put my hand near my face!

x 2 on the pressure canner. I own one we picked up at a yard sale, but the thing scares me. I have oodles of jars i could use, if i could get them back from DH's aunt, she filled them and seems to be hoarding, hope they get eating before jam season! I like the older jars for some reason. We have a few that we don't use, since they are obviously collectibles. A few say "grandma" something, one is the old green glass before they invented the screw top, one is a screw top but has bubbles in it and was hand-made, and one i have never seen anywhere else is a vase-ish shaped ball with raised polka dots all over it. I can't figure out what it's worth??? It is pretty though.

Thank you for all the "welcome"s!!!!

I am excited I found this website! Everyone seems so nice and I like that everyone gives their personal experience in situations to help!!!!
Everyone should be a chicken lover if this is the norm amongst us!

PS I can't help but love the smilie faces!

Olive - I may take you up on this. My MIL sent me her pressure canner. It kind of scares me. I need to go have the guage checked but I just know I am going to blow up my kitchen.

How far are you from Grand Rapids?

Not too far. Hour, hour and a half, depending on which part of GR you're coming from and how fast you drive. ;)

None of this stuff seems to work for me with the onions (though I'll have to try the matchstick).

I think I'm going to just try using swim goggles next.

2 chicken tractors with attached hoop houses.

Do hoop houses work in Michigan? I was considering going that route and just insulating with hay bales (you see how I tie in TWO conversations here at once!) for the winter but I wasn't sure if it would be too cold for them. Certainly it would be easier to keep ventilated.

Good morning, welcome backyardfarmmom!

Yesterday we got to hear the baby's heartbeat. Today is my heart test, I'm too young for this.

I drooled over your cups of coffee this morning, no caffeine at all before my test.

It's going to be a long day without my half cup of morning coffee.

As for an update on my Mycoplasma (MG) I have been feeding and watering the remain flock at night before going to bed. I hope doing that will cut down on the possibility of me spreading it to others until I finish culling the rest of the flock. I have two broody hens right now so we are not getting much eggs. I sure will miss the fresh eggs and my rooster calling danger every time he sees my son.

I wonder if I can train my next rooster that trick!

I found out that the eggs I ordered will be shipped while I'm on vacation. I don't trust our house sitter to handle the eggs right so I better call the breeder today and ask him to wait a week. That's not really a bad thing though, it will allow my coops to sit an extra week giving them over a month of being empty. I'm really praying the new eggs test clean after they hatch. The hatcher, brooder, and all feed and water dishes have been bleached. They have been in the garage for a week now. Once I bleach the floors of my hatching room in the basement I will move everything back into the room. I did figure out how the wild birds are getting into the smaller coop and will be buying netting to cover that coop and run. Nothing can get into the large coop and run that still has a few chickens left.

Welcome to all the new members.

Daron, I like the name Bessie too.

Eeyore, I have hoop house runs that I completely cover in the winter with greenhouse plastic. I think they would be fine. I have thought about building another one as a grow out pen.

Olive, Opa, how long can you keep homemade jams? I have some jars that are going on 3 years old.
