Hello! I'm new. Ok, I'm not "new", but haven't had time to actively be on the site for anything but reference in a couple of years. Hubby and I moved to Highland Twp last winter.

You're not to far from me. Welcome to the Michigan thread. Be sure to check the information in my signature line about Chickenstock.

Today was a reasonably productive day. I bought a galvanized boat trailer with a bent tongue at the scrap yard and rebuilt it. The trailer I had been using has 8" wheels and this one has 12". Big difference when running down the highway. I cut out the bend and sleeved the tongue, got new tires and a spare, rewired it, Built new bunks to cradle the boat and today I finished. The boat now sits atop it and for less than $200 I have a trailer that had I purchased it new would have cost me $850. Look out fish, I'm coming after you.

I talked with my son Joe, who in turn talked with the vet in Missouri that has been treating Daisy for the last few years, and Joe is now sending medication by overnight mail that may help clear up the infection and buy her some additional time. In spite of the infection she seems to be doing okay and the moment she saw my truck keys she was at the door ready to go.

I also found out that the Veterans Administration may help with my hearing aids based upon my Army MOS. I was in demolition and the explosives couldn't have been very good for my hearing. After finding out that they have a $6000 price tag and help I can get will make it a little easier.

Sam-

do you think she would do okay with anesthesia for a dental? Get that bad tooth out, eliminate the infection?
Poor old girl. I sure hope the antibiotics help her feel better.

If she is still living later this summer I will take her with me to Missouri to have the vet there treat her. Several years ago I had taken her to the vet I had been using for twenty five years and the told me she needed 2 possibly 4 teeth removed. It was going to cost $465 if it was 2 and $625 if it was 4. When I told my oldest son in Missouri he said that was nuts. He checked and the same procedure there was $68.

.....well crappy crappiness.

My shipped eggs are really disappointing me. So far one hatched but had to be put down because it's right side was all wonky and his leg/wing stuck straight out. I tried the bandaid thing (have done it before) and it was obvious it wasn't going to work. One that was rocking bigtime last night isn't rocking anymore, so I can assume dead. One has pipped through and two more are rocking. So out of 30 eggs I'm going to be lucky to get 3 good chicks. ((sigh)) I think I'll stick to hatching out my own eggs from now on. What a waste of time/money.

My hare will be in the air tomorrow morning! It's so cool to think that one of my rabbits is going to be living in Japan. They gave me a bag of some really cool goodies from Japan and we've been taste testing them tonight. There's one treat that look like tiny half-dollar-sized pancaked with an interesting thick jelly substance in between them making a creme pie type thing. It was pretty good :) One of the treats was a bag with these weird stick things that tasted like cracklin'...yummy
