Thanks, she's still separated. I put some blu-cote on her throat (and my hands, and her shoulder, and half her head and her eye...). I tried to put her back in with the others and it was really weird, they all just arrayed themselves around her and stared at her and then one went for her throat again. I'll try again in the morning. Poor thing.
Oh, yes, that stuff gets everywhere! The first time I used it, the chicken did a wet dog body shake and I was covered in it. I learned very quickly to dab it off really well first.
I'm sorry your girl still got picked on. The blu-cote is supposed to make it so the wound isn't noticeable to the others. Is the wound still bleeding any?

:welcome vjwilmoth and a few others that I forget after reading over 100 posts, sorry, but welcome! :frow

We made the hog pen much, much bigger, and the hogs love it and so do we! :D
The hog fence goes behind the trees too.

Annabelle's babies have gotten big fast! She took her babies out of the shed, and mingled with the other hogs today.

I am currently reading, "The Mating and Breeding of Poultry" by Harry M. Lamon and Rob R. Slocum. It is a plethera of info and it was originally published in 1920 I think. The repritnt price is pretty reasonable. A beautiful morning. Got a few more large white wyandotte eggs. Are people gearing up for the Spring Fowl Fest show in Alma and week from this Saturday.
There will be a few Michigan thread folks hanging around. Bringing Nankins and D'Anvers. Hoping to buy a girlfriend for Buck the duck. I have purused the book mentioned and thought it had a lot of good stuff on all aspects of chickendom. I have a couple of 4H publications regarding showing and basic care which were helpful.

Thanks Sarah. :)

Oh yes, yesterday was a big day too for Bella! We let her out of the shed for the first time since we brought her last week Tuesday. She was very happy to be out, and started attacking eating every green thing in a 40 ft by 100 ft pen. In two weeks, we will let her out to the pasture where the steers are. She really wants to be with the steers, but nope, gotta wait for two weeks. She does really look pregnant, and her udder is getting bigger by the day! Hopefully in a few weeks or so, she will have her first calf! :D We have been giving her grass clippings to keep her happy, and I found that she likes apples. :yesss:
