And I understand that chickens=dinner... But why set eggs or so many eggs if you have no more room in your flock?

Juise-

I quit for seven months.
I started by having a cigarette, then waiting an hour. Next cigarette,,then waited two hours..next cigarette, then waited three hours...pacing, munching, cussing, etc..then had another. on and on until it was 24 hours between cigarettes. Then i said, "I went 24 hours- I definitely am not going to continue now."

Thanks, Mom. :) I quit for a year and a half or so during / after each of my pregnancies, you are right, it really never gets better. That is what makes me the angriest, I think, the realization that it will always be with me, no matter what. It's something I will never be free of, and I hate them so much for that. It would be nice to think that all you have to do is get through a week, or a month, or whatever and know that once you have made it you have made it.

I like the idea of slowly increasing the timing between cigarettes, but to be entirely honest right now I like the idea of any scheme that would allow me to have one right now.

I have two walls opposite each other in our coop that are half hardware cloth, but we put boards over the majority of that ventilation for the Winter. Haven't taken them down yet, not sure when to, but I think I will wait until at least it isn't freezing overnight to do so. We have windows in our coop as well, and I don't know any research on it, but I would say... If it is possible for you to have a window, add a window. Who would not like a window? Real sunlight is a good thing, even in the Winter months when it is weak. Sunlight is important for my own well being, I should think that it is good for the birds as well.

Hi All...I'm a newbie to Backyard Chickens....
Since you're talking about possible excess of eggs, I'd like to introduce myself!

I am a local Michigan artist who does pysanky eggs (Ukrainian Easter Eggs).
I am in the market for eggs....anything other than regular chicken eggs which I can get very easily from a local poultry lover.

I am looking for turkey, goose, duck (Peking), bobwhite, banty, pee-wee, partridge, peahen, guinea hen, quail, or just about any kind of egg from anything with feathers and wings.

I love eggs.

Anyway....I would be happy to swap a custom made pysanky from one of your own birds...or...work out a reasonable deal on eggs that otherwise might be discarded.

Please check out my website at www.etsy.com/shop/goldeneggpysanky and see how beautiful pysanky can be!

Please PM me if you have extra eggs! Gail

You do some amazing work! Do you fill them with something or are they just blown out?

What are some overall thoughts on keeping quail and chickens together? Gosh, I want quail!!!!
I can't count my chickens before they hatch... SEE HOW THIS CHICKEN MATH IS AFFECTING ME ALREADY!!!!

Sheesh... I have a butt load of duck eggs. Seems people around here don't wanna try them! I can't believe it. It grosses them out. I actually got the neighbor to give them a try. He actually liked them once he tried. DUH! LOL.

Well my ducks are laying machines. 4 eggs a day, and only for a week or so there a bit ago did they stop laying everyday... was only getting 2-3 eggs a day for a bit. But now they are back up to 4 a day. LOL. I can sell the chicken eggs good and quick. Just not the duck... go figure.

Anyway, Glambka
LL
