Aw! That sucks Brethren. If you lived closer, I'd give u Skatter and her new chicks. Why? Well geez, ya'll will think I have Mom2 disease... Hatching a lot! Lol. They'd all be DP mutts though.

My dog is having an active dream... So funny to see them running in their sleep. Lol

Opa, I am ready for what the day will bring. Yup.

Sitting here this morning getting ready for what ever is next. I'm not sure what it will be but I will be ready when it shows up.

Oh you think you'll be ready anyway, LOL

Just one load of mulch? Lightweight.

No really it's that I have Lupus and it tends to try and tell me what to do, but I am not listening!!

They've lost their minds.

I am with Sarah they have lost their minds. I find the people who seem to feel that I have lost my mind are the ones that really do nothing but work, eat and sleep, nothing esle how boring.

Have you every noticed that when you are not on for the day reading all the posts exhausts you to the point you don't feel like posting yourself?

Yes Opa you can say that again. It's hard for me because I have dail up, I know you didn't think there was such a thing anymore, I wish there wasn't. I would have sat but it's sooooo expensive and not a whole lot faster unless you get the highest speed they got which is around $100 a month. I had it for over two years till the sat broke and they told me it would be $125 just to come out, the dumb thing only last two years! I paid $400 for the dumb thing. Oh well

Opa, Nova gave a good recap. If she did it daily, she could save our eyesight!

RaZ - in all fairness, I have been called a crazy bird lady and a crazy cat lady at different times in my life..........so maybe it is just animals in general.

Sometimes I am just called crazy,

I think it's a social comment directed at anyone who has more than one of any pet. More than 2 cats? Crazy cat person. More than 2 dogs? Crazy dog person. Chickens? Fagetaboutit. You must be nuts.

The only people who can get away with it are "farmers". Just as long as they live far away from "normal" people. Kind of sad when you think about it.

Well I don't want to be normal then, because normal is boring and mean goes along with that

oh boy! I leave the chat for a couple days and can't even keep up lol I have chickies hatching right now...here's a video I snapped of one of the showgirls making her grand entrance!

Hope everyone is doing well!

Jen, I would have loved to which the vid but with dail up can't do it.

Thanks, Nova. That is sweet. If we lived closer, I might just take you up on that! For some odd reason, I really want to be able to hatch out my own eggs. I'm 100% dutch, so 100% stubborn. I will keep trying....

though I want chickens NOW, and am starting to consider ordering chicks.... just to have some. Mutts lay eggs and are just as enjoyable to watch and care for as others.

I will wait until tomorrow. If there is still nothing, then I will do eggtopsty again. Need to ponder on it and figure out a new plan of action.

So disappointed.

Don't think any of the eggs will be hatching. For some reason, the temp dropped a little. Seems that my DS also noticed this. He has been a lot more interested in the eggs as hatch time approached. Quite possible that he had something to do with it, as he admitted to trying to get the incubator to come back on. HAD to open the incubator, so quickly checked the egg that looked like it might have a pip that appeared Sunday morning. Was not a pip. Looked like it had been scratched with something. It did not have this before lockdown. Since there was no pip, candled it. No change since lockdown, 5 days ago. Candled the other 5 eggs. Same thing.

Pretty safe to say, I am still chicken-less.
I don't know what else to do. I will have to re assess again. Need to figure this out, then try again.

Thanks to those who volunteered eggs to me. Wish I could report better results.

On the bright side, there have been no bear sightings since the weekend.
So sorry to hear the eggs did not hatch. I am not sure I will ever hatch eggs sounds to nerve racking.

I hate bears I have every bear attack book and article there is I think. I also hate shark soooooo scary to think I used to swim in the ocean every summer and not give it a though, till the day I read Jaws at the beach never went swimming again, wading yes.

Morning all, just got caught up on yesterday's posts. Yesterday wasn't too busy, it didn't take hours to read. I don't have time to comment on all but it's good to read what's going on. I hope to be back with pictures this afternoon.

Morning Folks,
Brethren....sorry to hear about your eggs. I think if I ever attempt to hatch a batch I would try the natural method with a broody just for the fact that I wouldn't have to purchase an incubator or eggs. This way if the project was a flop all I would be out is my time/efforts.

Juise, you should put your young birds in at night so that they "learn" where they should sleep. The best way to do this is to leave them shut inside the coop for 2-3 days before letting them out. If it rains they will not be able to get inside after dark, and may get soaked and become ill. They are also a lot more attractive to predators, which may be tempted to test your pen - and every pen has a few weak spots.

Morning all, yeah on the emu wigglers! Sorry about the hatchless ones.

Yesterday my youngest lost his first tooth. He came home from school SO excited to show it to me. Today my oldest turns 10. I always let them choose their birthday dinner and Nathaniel actually asked if he could make the dinner himself.

I hope that you encourage his interest in cooking. All three of my sons cook and are actually better at it than their wives.
