They are not going to like it when ever you do. I just put them on when ever. They fuss, try to get out of them and then usually by the next day are ok.

Sunday's seem to be predator days. Couldn't find my magazine for my gun so I woke up hubby up yelling and he shot the chupacabra .... ok the mangy coyote. Poor thing had sores all over it. It wasn't early in the morning either, about 9 when I was going to let the chicken out.

He seems underdressed...

This is my showgirl roo that I dyed. He is really a lot brighter than he is in the pictures. Poor thing everyone makes fun of him.
This is one of my modern game pullets.

After having read some of the posts of recent days it reaffirmed a decision made years ago to stay away from hoes. I think adding rakes to the list of things to avoid might also be prudent. Worked in the garden for awhile today and have planted 2 varieties of pole beans, 3 types of lettuce, 2 kinds of cucumbers, 4 types of sweet corn, and spinach.

EeyoreD came this afternoon to pick up the enhanced trio of Spangled Hamburg bantams. Isn't wonderful how a mutual desire to raise chickens and this site allows us to meet so many nice folks. I truly enjoyed her visit and when you meet her you should be able to recognize her. She only has one ear. I think I probably talk her other one off today.

Ha! I enjoyed every minute of it! It was truly a pleasure to meet you. Thank you for the enhanced trio and thank you for showing me around your set-up. you really have some neat things going on there! One of these days I'm totally making one of those smokers.

I posted pictures several years ago so I will have to see if I can find them. A commercially manufactured smoker comparable to mine would cost in excess of $4000. I used a 23 cubic foot upright freezer for the oven portion. Through the use of an electric dryer heating element and a fan to circulate the heat inside the box I created a convection oven. A separate smoke box uses a hot plate to generate the smoke and a fan injects it into the smoker. I've been smoking meat, fish, fowl, sausage, and cheese for over 45 years so much research and experience went into it's design. Most smokers do not circulate the product closest to the heat source cooks quicker resulting in an uneven cooking.

If I am unable to find the old pictures I will take new ones to post.

Thank you Opa. That sounds fantastic!

Bianca67, the greatest accomplishment of my life was seeing my three sons reach manhood. If yours bring you the joy that mine have brought me you will be a rich person. Happy Mothers Day.
