Wow, lots of posts to read through but all were really fun.

Here are all the replies I have in my head:

We've had an adventurous weekend and it seems to be continuing into the week. I just found out that unless I have 5 acres I can't have "farm animals" so maximum stealth needs to be the name of the game. I'll be spending the rest of the week building up fences, planting things for climbing plants to hold on to, and trying to decide if we are going to get rid of a few birds to make it easier.

Opa- Thanks for posting that! We are going to start the Thai long beans and peas. It may be too late but this is our first try at gardening.

It definitely isn't to late. Beans require from 45 to 75 days depending on variety. There are two types of green beans, pole and bush. Personally I prefer the pole type since I don't have to bend over to harvest, and they tend to produce a 2nd and 3rd picking more often. Usually they will continue to blossom and produce beans until the first hard frost.

I just came in to hydrate and get a snack while the paint dries.

I think you missed a decimal point. That peewee egg weighs nearly a pound! And the jumbos weight more than some of my hens.!

Oh my gosh, I did something scary!

Ok, not that scary.

I drew a blood sample from my goat. First time ever drawing blood. I knew the theory behind it, from nursing school, but had never done it on human, animal, or even manikin before. My mother, a nurse, helped me, but I did the actual draw. And it was much easier than I assumed. My goatie was quite calm, since she trusted me and I brought offerings of treats. A vein palpation later, and I did a quick stick and had enough of a sample! So now I'll know if she really is pregnant, since I can send the sample to the lab! I can't wait to learn if she really does have kids on board!

Nancy, they are weird... When I try and find ducks that look anything like them, I come up with, Buff Orpingtons... smaller... tan and white runners.... but not upright enough.... and Khaki and white campbells.... BUT... They are excellent layers.... SO... I think they are a mutt mix of those combinations.. The buff orpingtons look to be the closest to what I have,

I had no idea there was a buff orpington duck! That is cool!

The only difference, is my ducks legs are longer... buff also have darker and more orange bills, more or less white as well...
