Grab yourself a cup of coffee and let's still awhile before we go out to face our day. Think about our friends who are facing adversity or the helplessness of having a loved one it. Say a short prayer that they find the strength and understanding to face their day. Maybe we should also say a prayer for our friends who only hatch cockerels.
Lots to do in the next couple of days. I've got to finish painting the ladder rack from David's truck. I spent hours removing the rust and peeling paint. I used a mini grinder with an assortment of wire brushes. That is one task where wearing eye protection is a must. As you use it pieces of wire will break off. I must have pulled a dozen of those wire projectiles from my legs and arms and I had several bounce off of my safety glasses.
The grass expanse around my house needs mowing before it changes from lawn to hayfield. It's amazing how fast it grows this time of year. I just wish the weeds and the grass would grow at the same rate.
I need to make a run to Tractor Supply for feed and scratch. In two runs I have Kuhl range feeders that each will hold 50 lbs of feed. In the cages I have built feeders from 4" pvc pipe and they hold quite a lot. When everything is filled I need not worry about replenishing them for over a week.
I'm hoping to have every thing caught up, mowed, filled, and watered so I can head south on Friday without leaving a mountain of work for Hope and Granny. It takes 14 hours to drive to where my other sons live in southwest Missouri. While that distance to drive isn't an easy task it is doable. Due to Granny's mobility issues I have a handicap plate on my truck however after I have several hours behind the steering wheel anyone watching me exit my truck would have no doubt that the plate wasn't issued for me.
My oldest son Joe will be out of town until Sunday night but arriving Friday night will allow me to spend quality time with Scott and Rebeca. They're jobs keep the very busy during the week but they are both off weekends.
Having children that you only get to see once or maybe twice a year is difficult. Having all three together at the same time is a rare occurrence. With David having traveled south to help his brothers I'm sure that it made this year's Mother Day very special for their mother.
