Juise - I don't know about the science, but I've grown sunflowers with other plants -- melvia, hollyhock, fennel -- without an issue.

I just had to chase around the ducks. Them rotten buggers managed to get under the fence by the tree and try and make a run for it. I love my chickens. They alerted me to the malcontents.

Ha, well if it makes you feel any better. Note to self: Do not brace your hand on the roost boards when you bend over to pick up eggs. Chickens crap everywhere, especially where they sleep.

(and geez does that smell linger! I washed my hand 4 times and I can still vaguely smell it.)
