Not sure how long exactly she has been sitting on them, but she disappeared 2 weeks ago and had only been seen once or twice since. We followed her the last time and found her nest and moved it the next night which was Tuesday night. When we found the nest we could only see one egg kind of sticking out. When we moved her she took quite a few hours moving them around, sitting on them, standing, moving, etc etc until she got it where she wanted it. She's been on them ever since. Sometimes you can see an egg, sometimes not.

Both DD and I heard tapping when we moved the nest and DD saw egg movement from one egg. When I checked her later that night I still heard the tapping and saw the egg movement myself, but so far nothing which is why I'm still not sure if they are ok from the move or not. As for candling, I really don't know what to look for or if I'd know if the egg is still good or not.

eta- oh and 12 are bantam size (she's sitting on a leghorn egg, too). What would I use to even try to candle those?

cute pics, all who posted! :)
i wanted to stop by and say that i couldn't resist peeking at my broodie's eggs today after i tossed her outside for her daily constitutional, and i thought i heard a very tiny peep!

So not long now, i hope they are tiny and round like my EE..... But i am on surveilance duty cause i don't trust the broody, that is one crazy chicken on a good day. I think she's a raptor throwback. Hopefully she takes to mommy-hood and don't freak out over the new babies! I wish my EE's would brood, they are so much sweeter.

Also, though it feels like there may be something between one of my hen's toes that will still have to come out from the top, but looks like the bottom may be trying to finally heal "clean".......

I have been steadily backing it with neosporin, to encourage anything i couldn't get out to "die", since i've never used a needle to inject antibiotics before..... though i would have never thought i could do a surgery either, and now i've done it 3 times....

I feel like such a "bad mommy" for not noticing before it got so bad.

that first one there... Don't faint near her... Might not be anything left when they find you!
She is definately vicious! My hands are cut and bruised from her pecking me. She has even pecked me on the face when I was trying to take out the fresh eggs.
Thought I'd share a broody photo. This is Baby Girl my silver sebright who's sitting on 13 eggs. Just a little proof that even though the books say sebrights aren't known for broodiness (it's apparently rare) that they will actually do it.
teeville, she is beautiful. Good luck with the hatch.

fuzzybutt and BackyardFarmMom, good luck with your hatches too. I have hardly ever seen any of my eggs move, even when hatching in an incubator. Fuzzybutt, I hope your hen's foot will get better soon.

I have been trying to get things done here but I am having some aweful issues with my Lupus, so I am not getting all the stuff I want and need to get done. Darn lupus always trying to keep me down. Anyway thought you guys would like to see some pictures of my babies and my coop. By the way I am going with "The Chicken Shack" for a name now.

My son putting the walls up, I still need to put all that stuff in the barn that's sitting there, the barn is full of who knows what.

Here's my run 7 X 16, my son is digging around the bottom and burying wire mesh. All the try roots is causing him problems but he is almost done, just waiting for a cool day.

Heres a pic of what I think is a Jersey pullet I can't believe I had to put a wire top on the brooder already they were only 9 days old when I had to put it on.

My son made me a little roost for the brooder, it's starting to look like a playpen, haha

Silly, I don't have room to keep them, but I'm sure I can find them a home if you don't want them. I can bring them to you next week if you want, or if it's easier for you I can wait until they are fully feathered. (They are 3 weeks today) Thanks again for the eggs - That was SO much fun. :D
