I don't rely on the electric fence in winter. While snow doesn't conduct electricity neither does frozen ground so electric fencing become less effective in winter. When you run a single wire system that wire is the "hot" leg, moisture in the ground provides the other leg. If the ground is frozen it won't complete the circuit.

The majority of the predation occurs starting with early spring and continuing through mid summer. If you can get your predators under control during these periods it will be greatly lessened in fall and winter.

Much about life is learned through observation and then mastering the obvious. With that thought in mind I would like to relate a situation and see who is first with the answer.

In preparation for the coming goose season a hunter spends several days observing the geese that fly into a field to feed. After several days of watching them fly in from the north he locates his decoys and blinds accordingly. The first morning of the hunting season the geese approach from a different direction. One that made his layout completely wrong and resulted in the geese being out of range. He was at a loss as to why they suddenly switched their approach direction. Do you know?

The only reason i haven't given antibiotics yet was because i was unsure if they were needed, and if so which one. Most cases don't need them, looks like mine does. I'm not against giving her a penicillin shot, but my DH is deathly allergic to penicillin. Soooooo i was hoping for something besides???

I have been looking at ordering a product online called "bird biotic", (doxycycline) A little overkill? Do i have time to wait?

Because "their" spot was already taken?

They were done migrating and were coming from their nesting site?

They saw/smelled him for those days and finally had enough?

I know zilch about geese......................i am curious though!

Nope it's none of those but the answer applies to all birds except ratites.

M2 - The fuzzy/silkie-ish uggos actually aren't too bad.

Want an ornamental fowl that doesnt pull its own weight, except for being a conversation piece? I can label one or two for you.

I missed what kind of chickens these are. If Nigellas doesn't want her, I would! I will be at Chickenstock too.
They are sizzle/Uggos...lol...ready for the breakdown? Silkie/Turken made Uggo. Uggo/Sizzle (silkie/frizzle cross) made these. If Nigellas doesnt and you do- want both of those? Or just one? Which one?
ETA- I have you on the list for an Uggo...see one of those naked necks that you want?

That is the correct answer. You got it much quicker than I had anticipated. Isn't curious how many problems in life have simple answers?

Or a super fluffy white one that doesn't have a naked chest, because that creeps me out severely.

I'm just getting used to the idea of a naked neck!

ETA: You are one smart cookie about those geese!!! Good job!
