Oh, and just a little story tonight...I have weekly hatches going on where I'm incubating in one bator and then hatching in another. I keep pretty good records but have honestly slacked a little. Yesterday I put (what I thought) the eggs who were supposed to be hatching tomorrow in the hatching bator...and didn't candle them or anything to check development. Today I get home and hear peeping...coming from the wrong bator! LOL I switched over NEXT weeks batch! There was a speckled sussex chick laying in the turner yelling "HELP!!!" I quickly swapped out the eggs to the right bators and this hatch is coming a little early! There's at least 4 more pipping through and a whole lot of shakin' going on!
I have a TON of showgirls so everyone be prepared to take them home with you at chickenstock!

OH! and I'm fairly certain I have a couple Buff showgirls! I bought some eggs and they came from those...I don't want buff so they'll be with me

Oh! And for anyone interested, there's a Michigan Bird and Game swap in Charlotte on June 9th!

We are going to the Swap in Charlotte! Hope to see some of you there.

Good grief! My BF and I cleared the garage out of almost EVERYTHING... and cleaned it, blew it out, and put everything back in a, much needed, organized way

Did everyone mention on here that it was hot today? Okay... Cause it was. Thought I would get a sunburn but I got a little color.

Then we went to pick up DS... We went 2 nights childless. I didn't know that was possible!!! He stayed with Gma and Gpa for the whole weekend. It was nice. We got a little crazy and stayed up til 2am with the neighbors... Ooooohhhh..

If it seems like I am rambling... I am cause it is hatch day tomorrow!!!!!!

and I am hoping for a call from the teacher saying that something is hatching out of those eggs...

I don't know why you pic on Mom2 so much... I think the uggos are no more/less ugly than showgirls. I kinda like them. She may have to sneak a few in Raz's truck for me at chickenstock.... Depending on this hatch!!!

We have to.

Some of my chicks might be turken mixes so I have no room to poke fun... Could be cookin my own little uggos as we speak!

Does anyone on here have their own mealworm farm?
I was wondering:
Is it worth it?
Is it smelly?
What is your secret that makes it sucessful?

I think I will give it a try soon.

Chicken Run
Nick: Here's a thought. Why don't we get an egg and start our own chicken farm? That way we'd have all the eggs we could eat.
Fetcher: Right. We'll need a chicken, then.
Nick: No... no, we'll need an egg. You have the egg first, that's where you get the chicken from.
Fetcher: No, that's cobblers. If you don't have a chicken, where are you going to get the egg?
Nick: From the chicken that comes from the egg.
Fetcher: Yeah, but you have to have an egg to have a chicken.
Nick: Yeah, but you've got to get the chicken first to get the egg, and then you get the egg... to get the chicken out of...
Fetcher: Hang on, let's go over this again.

Ginger: Listen. We'll either die free chickens or we die trying.
Babs: Are those the only choices?

Nick: Eggs from heaven.
Fetcher: No, from her bum.

Rocky: [angry at Ginger] Listen! I've met some hard-boiled eggs in my day, but I'd say you're about 20 minutes!

Nick: Eggs. Just like the ones that rooster was gonna lay. Only roosters don't lay eggs, do they?
Fetcher: Don't they?
Nick: No, it's a lady thing apparently - ask your mum.

I am still a few pages behind but if this thunderstorm knocks out the power I am going to be so mad, so I thought I had better use my quotes now. Plus, if I break them up, maybe you guys won't notice how long they are.

I'd be concerned with that type of spider problem... I'd hate for one of your girls to be bit by one. Aren't they poisonous to people? Or am I wrong?

They aren't nearly as scary as people think, but yes, they can kill you.

Juise, DH said he used some scrap treated lumber from a deck he built (he is a builder by trade).

Ahh, so he must have cut the groove himself. *#%@ it, I need more power tools!!

Well that was a hard lesson to learn.

I've been so preoccupied lately with our decision to home school our 3 boys next year.

Yay!

Nice novel too! Taking lessons from Juise? Hehe

Hahaha, well, it's hard when you can only manage to reply every few days, I still want to comment on things!

Huzzah!

ARE THEY ALL GIRLS???? DID I REALLY HATCH out NO roos?

Mom, those are the girliest looking roosters I have ever seen. You're yard is looking very nice! I vote a path + some low groundcovers and / or plants..

I have a better plant for the border with crabby...Toxicodendron radicans (L.) Kuntze
gig.gif

Ohhh, so help me if you plant that stuff on purpose! I would be right on my way to introduce your face to my fist!

I am so sick of poison ivy. /sigh

How come no one posted anything between my last post and this one? It's only 1am. Now everyone will know how long it is. (Although I have tried to keep these as short as possible. Really.)

Today has been a most awful day.

I'm sorry, Stacykins.

I am sure you were a fine goat mum, sometimes there is no avoiding issues.

I have been attempting to make a trellis. First I tried that wonderful looking one Juise posted. Got it done and before I set it in place the high winds the other day broke it all up. So I did a second one in place. However we have soil full of clay. So today it was done and so was the flower garden and I watered. My son says "uh mom I don't think you built it right". Once the soil was wet it fell over.
barnie.gif
So I am back to no trellis and the morning glories are already planted in that spot.
rant.gif
Maybe I'll try the potatoes next, I don't think I can damage them.

Oh, no!! Are you using thick enough branches? I literally just pushed mine over in the driveway so I could haul it out to the garden, and I half carried, half dragged it all the way there then tipped it back up without problem. I do intend to stake the legs and I bought 12" steel tent stakes to do so. I haven't gotten around to it yet, but so far it has stood up to all the crazy wind and storms. Maybe you could also use screws instead of nails if you are having trouble?

New one from SW Michigan here

Bianca - The coop and run look terrific!

Well, I am too beat to write anything on top of the replies, and plus I am sure no one wants my post to get any longer at this point, so I will just say I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday weekend, and I have been busy on lots of things, some of which are silly.

Yes, but can you suggest a ground cover to use? That is where I am stuck. I have ivy around the tree. But I need something softer looking. And I found everything I wanted to buy at Steppables.com but the mouse ear stuff was 97 dollars a flat- pssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh thats not happening..
We got a little crazy and stayed up til 2am with the neighbors... Ooooohhhh..
