Actually goat is quite good and there are breeds like the South African Boer, the Tennessee Meat Goat, the Spanish Meat Goat, and the New Zealand Kiko goat that are raised exclusively for human consumption. In many cultures the goat is the preferred meat of choice.

And the Savannah (sp?) is like a shorter Boer, but same stocky build. I almost bought one today when we bought the Boer gal, but our fence would not hold him (it's an electric poultry fence!). He was simply gorgeous though. Of course, I was rather hungry at the time, which may have influenced my thoughts.

In certain South American countries most kitchens even have their own meat production pantries.

Goat meat is also lower in cholesterol than beef and I agree that it tastes great.

This is what I have been busy doing...
I think I need to make a fairy baby to go in this one...

Recognize those eggs Raz?
Fairy baby #1:

This baby has real bug wings and is small enough to fit in a pistachio shell

Fairy baby #2:

Who wants some fairy babies?

Quote: Goat meat is eaten more than any other meat in the world, and it is YUMMY. We have sold three buck kids this year that will eventually end up as food. I have one male that will be my 4-H market goat this fall and one other lucky one that will not be eaten but I am going to teach him to pull a cart. The rest of ours are girls. Also, we have named some of the wethers, we have Shamrock (my cart goat), Slash (my 4-H goat), and Monkey Face (one that was sold). Our girls born this year are Blossom, Petal, Maple, Olive (named long before I knew about BYC), and Almond.

Shamrock when he was one week old (he is 3/4 alpine 1/4 fainting goat). He is the oreo type, the same on both sides.

Slash, Shamrock's twin (with mom who does not look good in this picture). They were born St. Patrick's day, so we sort of had to name one Shamrock. I admit it is going to be very hard to sell poor Slashy.

If you dont believe me about goats pulling carts, go here - http://www.harnessgoats.co.uk/

I loooove the skunk, I've always wanted one!

Does anyone know what this is? I found it on a milkweed plant last summer.

Another ugly pigeon baby.

One of my Dominiques. The bad thing about Dominiques is that they are sooooo independant we can never get them to lay in their coop. They insist on laying somewhere that we cannot find. Other than that, they are amazing, I don't feed them a thing and they ar fat.

Nova may find my morning posts redundant but I can't imagine how to start a morning without coffee. A cup of tea just doesn't have the jolt of java to get me going. A breakfast Bud doesn't seem like a good idea on many levels. So I guess I'll just continue to brew the beans and keep the pot full if you care to join me.

Good Morning everyone!

I cleaned my daughters room completely- and only found one strange object...the rest was garbage and dirty laundry. MY version of garbage.
Strange that I found...a barbie completely encased in clear packing tape...

Today is laundry laundry laundry...and I have eight pots to plant...er, eight plants to plant. I bought some milkweed yesterday- and found FIVE monarch caterpillars on them. :)

Sam- your coffee is always appreciated in the morning. Its how I start my day. When you are not here, something feels missing. Your post is my 'go-to' every morning.

I always run out of chicken feed on a Sunday- and never think to get any before I run out. I may run out to TSC today, or back to the place in Wyandotte that sells it. Not decided yet.

I took my dogs to the field this morning. They ran til they wore themselves out, I tolerated it well- only one mosquito found me while I was there.

I will pop in and out through-out the day, you all have a great morning.
