Awesome :) It is a blast! I'm going to the swap in Charlotte this coming weekend and might have to take some of these silkies and showgirls with me. My chick coop is getting crowded! I'm thinking that Buzz, my white rooster, is the main one breeding because I keep getting a ton of white silkies with just a few colored ones in between.
I'm going there this coming weekend also.

Do you know what time it starts? What are you taking up there?

Thanks Jen. I will try to be there at 6 also. Sounds like fun.

Someone said that they had furs to tan in their freezer.?????
How do you tan your furs?
I was curious and looked it up... interesting. Everyone seems to have their own way of going about it... Seems there is more than one way to skin anything and even more ways to tan it.

Some techniques seem really dangerous... one guy was using battery acid.??? Not sure I would want to touch that one.
Again, just curious. If you want to PM me.

Does anyone here, who is coming to Chickenstock, have white silkies? I would like ONE...let me know if you do and how much.

Also, M2...what will I owe you for the Uggo and the two other...whatever they are? lol Those little tan-ish ones. Those are girls or you don't know?

Back to work I go!

Well, catching up took about 2 hours thanks to reading while doing stuff on other open browser windows. Multi-tasking can be a bit bothersome when you have so much to do at once.

I'm getting a bit envious of all you with new chicks. Baby Girl has been sitting on those eggs for a while now and we still don't have any here. I candled again a few nights ago and we can still see babies moving so hopefully they hatch soon. I guess all we can do is wait and see.

Had the chickens out early today to give them some outdoor time before heading off to my son's graduation. However, as I was sitting in the living room, I saw a hawk (or hawk-like) bird swooping through the yard around 1 o'clock so the chickens didn't get as much time as I was hoping to give them. They weren't too pleased with us, but better to shoo them in than deal with any attacks right before leaving.

And last, I just have to say that I am one very proud mom today. Night all.

I just wanted to ad,
I do not seek out the animals who's furs I am tanning, I would much rather them be living in the woods, not eating my chickens etc. I have neighbors who are the "kill everything in sight" type, who trap who knows how many fur-bearing animals that are not hurting anything each winter, and I do not like that attitude and never want to be like that, with no regard for the animals that get involved. I have no problem with hunting, my dad and brothers hunt and I have hunted, but then at least most of the animal gets used.

Also, RaZ, It is illegal to own or care for a wild born native animal unless you are a licensed wildlife rehabilitator so don't let anyone know you have a skunk (I'm naughty and have injured/orphaned wild animals that I try to help a lot though, and I am glad you are helping him).
