My father took my little cousin on a ride in a B-17. A few years later, he also took a friend of his, a former Luftwaffe gunner during WWII. His friend was honored to go on the trip, even though many years before he'd once been aiming at the same type of plane he was now a passenger in.

Please save a shoot for me too! Those are gorgeous! And I'd be sure to pass on Alice's legacy.
will, do, I think I saw at least 3 out there, was hoping we would get some rain before I dig them up
Mom - the Polish are adorable can't wait!
muttsfan - so glad you actually heard and found Timmy
Nova - your sister is in my prayers

I tried the penny in the water. Not sure what to think. There are now no flies in the coop except for one that perches on the bag.

So I guess one fly over hundreds works.

Catching up after a busy weekend and I have pictures thanks to the hundreds my son has taken this weekend.

All weekend we have had a noisy b-17 buzzing

And last but not least my son took about 20 pictures of his Basque from muttsfan. He had me tell him a list of couples names and decided they are Fred and Ginger.
love all the pics Fred and Ginger are sweet
Oh, what a funny story! But stuck back there for a few days!? Poor girl. Glad you got her out and she was able to kick some pushy butt!Originally Posted by BackyardFarmMom
thanks for the review, wondered how that worked and if it was better then vinegar
I agree sister should sit her down and have a chat.... she will end up expecting every one to do here bidding all her life ....people that do not consider the needs of others usually end up very lonely and unhappy so she will be doing her sister a favor.........some people never grow up mom and big sis need to learn to say no to her now

loved the story about the little chick, hope no one else falls in the hole

Had a great time at the swap on Saturday. Met up with RIRJen, always fun with her. Met Theron, nice guy. Bought too many chickens (as usual lol) but got some realy nice ones. Beautiful white Silkie from Jen (like I needed another Silkie), thanks Jenny. Nice pair of Millie Fluer d'Uccles from Theron, thanks Theron. Also bought some blue Silkies, a gorgeous trio of Calico Cochins, some goofy Polish chicks ( 2 buff with white top notches, and 4 Tolbunt Polish.) pair of adult self blue d'Anvers. Was a real fun time. Enjoyed it .And met up with a chicken friend of mine from Ohio there.

well, the water protector is supposed to keep the water fresher longer, keep the slime build up down, and slow the algae growth... I wasn't that impressed with it, especially at the price, when AVC (apple cider vinegar) is supposed to do the same thing, but have serious health benefits.

Just got back from the hospital. My sister made me her secondary advocate after her fiance. UGH! Anyway, they are doing exploratory tomorrow first to try and pinpoint where she is leaking from. Apparently she is 1 in 4 million people who have dual bile ducts and they are thinking that along with the liver injury, that secondary bile duct is leaking, and that is why she is draining so much bile daily. After they pinpoint... the plan is to open her up the next day and remove a 2 inch section from her liver. Then she will be looking at a 3 month recovery from that. In the mean time, she has lost her job today, because they can not continue to pay her for a job she isn't doing, but are willing to let her keep her job and pay her "Cash Advances" that she will have to re-pay with her raises, bonuses, etc... And they want to give her a promotion when she gets back. SO, she'd still be out of work for 3 months, getting paid, but be their slave until that 3 months of salary is repaid. OUCH! So, she resigned. Personally I don't understand how they can do that, but I like the way they just got out of paying her while on medical leave. Well anyway...

I cooked Roopert in the slow cooker. Roopert is the guy in my avatar... The look on his face probably would describe his shock at being dinner. HAAHAA! Well anyway, cooked him in the slow cooker for 4 hours. Meat just fell off the bone. I think this might be that fastest I have ever picked a whole chicken clean. I fed the carcass to the chickens... and the wings. The dogs got his leg bones. Those sucker had to be as long as my hand! Anyway, yum. I cooked him in onion soup, and just added veggies and ditalini. Late dinner, but... Yummy dinner is coming.

For nest boxes, I use 18 gallon totes, cut a hole in the side big enough for the girls to get in and out, and then turn them upside down, fill with shavings or straw. Works perfect. I ran out of them... need to buy more really... And they are only about 5 bucks a tote at big lots. I did try a milk crate.. My girls like the totes better. I think they like that they in an enclosed cubby hole... LOL. Neighbors use the milk crates. They like them too... I guess if I didn't give them a choice, but they chose the tote nests most often, so I eliminated the milk crate nests.

Took a bunch of Silkies and a trio of sussex chicks and one sussex rooster and came home with just the trio of sussex chicks. Going to try to decide between some chicks so I have some more silkies and sussex avaiable at chickenstock. WOW, I can't believe it's only 2 weeks away!! Oh, and I was a good girl and only came home with one new chick.

LOL. I'm watching you haha

Skatter had decided that she is going to ditch her babies... Which is ok, they are old enough.. THEY however aren't having it. LOL. This one here, when she is standing up, she stands as tall as Skatter. Eventually all four were up on the roost with her, and she was trying not to fall off while they were trying to re-assure themselves that they were still mama's babies. LOL The picture was to dark, but she had one each under each wing, standing up, and they are both taller than her. HAHA. She has also decided that the summer roost is more to her liking than the coop roost. HAHA, now 3 pullets have been displaced because she's vicious still. LOL, I guess they can go in the big coop or back to the little coop. Tomorrow I will go to lowes and pick up another 2x4x8 and put it in so their all happy. LOL
