Yes, I think this fox could have killed a new fawn. It was a big fox. If the fox has a den close, it is the same location as the momma deer has been hanging around bleeting and looking for its baby. Deer drop the fawn then leave it, only coming back to it a couple times a day to nurse it. The fawn has no scent when it is born, so the mama leaves it so predators don't come to her scent and get the helpless baby.

Hey Mom - Remember that white Silkie cross you gave me ? Well my son laid claim to that one right away. He just loves that silly rooster. He has made it into a real pet. Even brought it in the house one time !!! My DIL said she turned around and there he sat with that silly chicken. Whenever he is outside doing something he takes it out of the coop and it follows him everywhere.

Thats great!!! Thats the one my daughter dyed Pink. lol. Very friendly. Im glad your son likes him so much.
Mom here I thought I was the only one that lost things that are right in front of me, lol
nope, I do it all the time..
LOL. You have the same thing going on as I do. Go back to a project the next day and something new is missing. Have to stop and think who was doing what project and what tools they would have needed, then go and look in that location. Lose sooo much time hunting down my tools. SO FRUSTRATING.
It drives me crazy. Its my own fault most of the time. My kids are bad at it too, but they get it from me. But, it still drives me nuts- "what did I use the staple gun on last??????"...

Well now it seems the foxes have to go were the racoons have to go. I hate to kill the local wildlife but what are you going to do?

Ever since I have trapped the chickens into just their own yard area, I have had the WORST fly problem.

So, that said- I have just hung the "bag of water with pennies" everywhere. lol.

I am heading out to get fresh wood chips because I havent done that yet this year HOWEVER...

my husband told me to pick up a few bags of lyme and spread that around first.

Is this Okay?
If it is going to hurt the birds NOW is the time to tell me before I leave.

I personally don't know about lime. The only thing I know is a friend of mine that has goats was going to spread it in her pen one time and the vet told her not to do that because it would burn the animals. Now with that said my best friend spreads it in her sheep yard and it has never hurt them and I know people put it in horse stalls. My best friend said she uses barn lime from TSC. I have no experience with lime.

I think it would e fine, and probably improve the fly problem, but that just my opinion.

Headed to Muskegon today for a graduation. Anyone on the way wanting to get rid of a very broody hen? Looking for one to do the incubating for me, since I can't seem to get my homemade incubator's kinks worked out.

All his farm experience comes from growing up at his Grannys farm- where she had dairy cows and hogs.

Soooo,

I cant use his experience with those critters to tell me if my scratching/dustbathing fluffers would be okay.

If I perhaps just pick up some bags of DE and use that instead, he's crippled up in the house, he won't know what I buy and use.

Now that is just too funny M2M.

M2M - I have something better for you than turkeys, so you might want to re-think this uggo thing. Instead of turkey I have 2 peahens sitting on eggs. Yup, you just might need a pair of them hahahaha. Wouldn't your neighbors love you then when they shrieked ?

Im pretty sure peahens would send the entire police force here..

Years ago, neighbors called on me when I had four hens...and two guinea keets-
never planned on keeping the guineas, they were going to my brother in laws...

On the other hand-

peahens just might sound like an every day woman scream around here in this neighborhood and maybe nobody would even call....
