Box style live traps are quite often turned over and even dragged some distance by raccoons in their attempt to access the bait. The trap needs to be secured or heavily weighted to prevent this common occurrence. That is why I have quit using them and switched to the Duke dog proof trap. It is a leg hold trap and since it relies on the animals ability to grasp to trigger it you won't have to worry about catching your dog or the neighbors cat.
