Do you use old fashioned oatmeal? That you cook?On hot days I sometimes pop some apples or other fruit in the freezer, and by the hotter parts of the day, they are frozen. The chickens then get this chilled treat! A temporary fix to the heat, but they sure do enjoy it! It is like ice cream for chickens. Access to ample shade and fresh water is essential, though.
I've also made some oatmeal, then frozen it as well. It takes them a while to eat their frozen oatmeal. I just make it in a plastic container so I can pop it out easily for them.
Well now, that is a very nice faucet!
Thanks for the advice Ladies! My chickens don't truly free range but they have so much space we call it that. They also have some huge willow bushes they spend most of their time in during the day. I may try the sled thing though.
Do you have barn cats? We have 5 outside cats that kill, unfortunately, everything...squirrels, voles, mice, rabbits, chipmunks, birds. They climb TREES and take things out of nests too. And yea, they always have cat food available.
My dog would have a field day with cats, she would want to round them up then eat them.
Good luck to hubby today!!
Wow, that's incredible. What a horrible loss. My coop has so much open space and big ventilation areas but on hot days the temp still soars in there. I don't know what to do about it. Should we get one of those small attic type fans and attach it to the cupola area to pump out the heat?
I can tell everyone on here cause I don't think you will ruin the surprise for anyone I know BBBBBUUUUTTTT.....
