I think most folks would be shocked at the number of coons that are out there.  Raccoons are expanding to fill the niche created by expanding suburbs and micro farms.  The availability of food is what is helping to drive the numbers upwards.

Yes, I sure do agree with this. In all the years I have lived out here ( 32 ) I have NEVER seen this many.

Geeze I think I am tired I can't spell. Hahaha.

I think it was my neighbors because they have a bunch of people up with dogs. Everyone that comes up here thinks they can just leave their dog lose. I hope they watch their dogs because my daughter is bringing her dog its huge, a South African Barboil I know this is not how you spell it. They were bred to hunt lions.

Boerboel... and you best keep him contained as the neighbors dogs don't stand a chance! LOL!

I think someone DID hex me. Either that or someone put a sign out saying " All coons come here. Better than KFC. " lol. I better go look for that sign.

lol, they're probably drop offs from the softies who won't dispose of them properly!

Nova, hope your sister is on the mend soon... she's got to be getting tired of the whole mess. Sending thoughts for a speedy recovery!

for the chicken looses too.

Mom2... BF caught the black SG crowing too!!!... That leaves 2...

BR tried to mate with a much smaller lady today... I broke it up. It never would have worked and poor thing was screaming!!!
He, also, flew at me with his daggers out trying to get the chick in my hand... makes it so much easier to send him to camp.
I clipped his flight feathers and have had no nonsense from him.

I watched a documentary on coons earlier this year. They tagged coons in a city and learned that they avoid natural parks and food sources because they can easily get what they want from humans. In China, people were ordering coons and raising them as pets... well, after they got older and uncute people let them go... MONKS KILL COONS because they destroy the temples!!! (I don't know if they do it themselves or hire out but they still have them taken care of) They adapt too well.

Dropping in to say hello to everyone a moment.

There is just too much work this time of year for me to keep up, but I do miss being able to! Have also had a few very large "extras" going on lately that have been difficult, and we are still waiting to find out how things will wrap up. Change is coming to us and there is a great potential for it to end wonderfully or horribly. It's hard not knowing whether to be excited or terrified.

Vanna passed away. I know, I was going to put her down, but gave the antibiotic a try first...she seemed to perk up a bit yesterday, but is gone now.\

Nova, :( Do you have any idea what was wrong with her?

Why wouldn't they want to keep them as pets when they get big? I mean, they are just as cute when they are big. They destroy more stuff too. You know what they needed to watch, was that little house on the prairie episode where the girls brought home a baby coon, and then it grew up and wasn't so cute, gave mary rabies and jack the dog too. Thats what people should be forced to watch when they decided on a pet coon. Yup. That, and it was so **** feel goody goody blah blah.. I was always happy when Nell got one over on Laura. heheehee.
